Not sure if that's any use but Adidas are brining out a collection case of  world cup balls this week.

Was this guy for me. The kit, those boots, the way he played with such skill and speed. I was aware of him briefly before but was only 9 in 1998 so too young to appreciate and was harder to see foreign football back then. But after that world cup I was an ultra fan of his for life. Remember being gutted when all the final drama happened with him.

They were definitely the first non-black pair of football boots I remember.  Was the Brazil/Nike advert at the airport for WC 1998?

I was 8 at WC 1998, but from memory can remember the teacher in our primary school wheeling in the TV to let us watch England v Tunisia. The Romanian's playing in bleached hair. Owen and Bergkamp's wondergoals v. Argentina. Chile's red strip with the giant rebook logo across it. Tino being sent home by Colombia.

Maybe because we're getting older and it's natural to think everything is shitter now, but I definitely feel like the quality of footballers back then piss all over the majority of today's players give or take one or two.

I am unashamedly old fashioned and nostalgic but these are the only boots necessary

Mizuno Morelia for moi as they had the big floppy (....) tongue. Also donned by Zanetti & Rivaldo.

This is the ultimate footballer to me. Perfect balance of what makes a player great. Other players have been better, others have done it longer but if I could build a football it's this. Strong, explosive, quick, skilful, balance etc. - even being Brazilian and sponsored by Nike is ultmate.

They re-released this shirt for like £150. Taking the piss. It sold out quickly too.

No I was a centreback or fullback. But wingers have the coolest boots!

There should be a football boots thread. Del Piero wore some incredible preds.

I miss the mainstay boots that brands had in the '90s

Puma Kings

Adidas Copa Mundials

Nike Tiempos

Then the Diadora with the bright yellow logo that Baggio wore, the Lottos with the bright green logo, then the generic Mizunos and Asics that loads of players in the PL wore.

Bought this for my brother for Christmas! Was out in KSA ages ago for whatever reason. Annoying thing is the jabalani is just a print on top of a normally stitched ball so I feel a bit cheated tbh.

Yeah, thought so too. Was kinda hoping we could mess around with it and check out that wild knucklebally movement. But he’s put the whole thing in a glass display case now anyway, so it’s basically a museum piece. Ah well.

I let the dog play with my Russia ball, maybe an expensive mistake.

 I feel that. My brothers and I used to get the (official or otherwise) ball every World Cup and then proceed to play them until they popped. The gift was a nod to that :) .

Big fan of Hatem and his Red and Black Pantofola d'Oro's

Had the red ones. Most comfortable pair of boots I've ever had. Didn't make me play like Hatem though, remarkably

There was a fifa out at that time that I enjoyed.  Maybe PES. Newcastle were a good 4.5 star team.  Just had to get the ball to Hatem. That was the tactic.

Pardew did the same. Just usually via a long hoof from Williamson for Shola to knock down.
