The Europeometer™ (2024/25) - NUFC Qualify for Conference League (at least)

Mad to think we are so worried about teams below us where if we win tomorrow and next Sunday there's a big chance we are 2nd going into the Arsenal game.

They have Liverpool next weekend at Anfield.

Unpopular post but I think 2nd-4th is already wrapped up, it’s 1 of 3 and that includes us.

We win comfortably tomorrow. The pressure is on Chelsea and Forest. Villa away to the Cherries next.

OK, which club has 4th place already wrapped up?

I just think Arsenal have enough despite the loss tonight, Man City will finish 2nd. Obviously I hope I’m completely wrong.

If ever you find yourself getting worried about Man United somehow finding themselves back at the top of English football, remind yourself that history shows that sustained success rarely finds clubs with shit owners.

Yes they could spend enough to get back into CL places etc and win the odd trophy but the reality is that Ratcliffe and the glazers ego will get in the way eventually. He's already shown a willingness to asset strip, as well as hire and fire directors on a whim. It never works.

It's like MA on steroids. They are being run by a dictatorship. A floppy haired, tory cunt, dictatorship at that.

If Man United ever get a proper take over, then we should all worry because obviously the potential for them is astronomical but for now they have shite owners, shite players, a stadium falling apart, disjointed leadership... they might tell themselves that winning a Europa league means that they are "back" but they aren't.

It's no surprise to me that their fans are trying to get behind Amorim, because he's about the only likeable, progressive thing about their club right now and even then he's relatively unproven at this level.

Which they only won because of an imaginary offside against Coventry.

Also learned today that the final is on Wednesday 20th, and the FA have kindly accepted Man U's request to move their PL game from Sunday to Friday 16th to avoid a clash their women playing in FA Cup. So plenty of rest for the final then. Lovely.

Spurs meanwhile are being forced to play on Sunday 18th, and their request to being game forward as well was denied. So pretty much no rest for the final, and will likely write off their game on the Sunday...against Aston Villa.

It'd be horrific if we waited so long to finish above Man Utd, do it twice in a row, yet they still pip us both times to Europa then UCL.

I mean, they can’t really pip us. We can fail to qualify.

Not wholly convinced Spurs make it to the final tbh. Bodo getting that late goal puts things in the balance for me. Their home form in the Europa has been excellent - beat Porto, Olympiacos, Twente, Besiktas, Lazio.

Are you serious?

Ok, maybe not weeks ago, but with no European football to deal with we should be closer to 2nd than still being in the squeaky bum territory that we are.

That's maybe a testimony to the quality of the rest of the league (with some teams being a bit cheeky with the psr rules) and the size of our squad.

Let's be honest though, we've looked horrendous in some games that we should've won easily. Fulham for example, we're miles better than them but still lost. There have been a fair amount of games that we haven't looked hungry enough.

Also, it's just an opinion, and as long as we qualify that's all that counts.

Looking at the top 5 leagues who might qualify for the CL, this doesn't take into account who they have to play etc.

Q means have qualified for CL,

L means likely to qualify for CL due to gap to teams below

Others are potential as most leagues are quite tight.

England: Liverpool (Q), Arsenal (L), Man City, Newcastle, Chelsea, Aston Villa

Italy: Napoli (Q), Inter (Q), Atalanta (L), Lazio, Juventus, Bologna, Roma

Spain: Barcelona (Q), Real Madrid (Q), Atletico Madrid (L), Athletic Bilbao, Villarreal, Real Betis

France: PSG (Q), Monaco, Marseille, Nice, Strasbourg, Lille, Lyon

Germany: Bayern (Q), Leverkusen (Q), Frankfurt (L), Dortmund, Freiberg, Leipzig

Notable absentees are AC MIlan

Without a lot of investment, we aren't good enough for the champions league.

What is wrong with people? We are 1 win away from 2nd. We are second best team since December

Seriously. What do you want? Win every game 10-0?
