I do think people are underestimating the mental side of Forest’s final games. Sure, they should win a lot of them on paper but they’re going to feel the pressure massively, especially if they have a poor result in their next two games

They've got the two most expensive squads and two squads who know how to finish top 4 chasing them. They should be okay but another loss in their next 2 and they might start having doubts.

It's not about who's chasing them, and how scary they are. They need like 9 points from 7 games. They can basically lose 4 "easy" games out of 7 and still be fine. So much room for error.

Tomorrow is massive. It's an "expected" win, but we have to be professional and treat it with respect and do the job. Then a decent gap to Man U who looked bang average today and have a game on Thursday in between so great chance for another win.

With the fixtures we have left and after watching how poor both Chelsea and Man City have looked today I really think a top 5 spot is ours to lose .

We need to get to top 5 first before its ours to lose surely?

We don't need to play well, we just need to find a way to win. Liverpool have done this so many times this season winning games in the last 5 mins, even when they are struggling. I think the cup win gives us that bit of assurance a winning side always carries.

My point was that while the other teams aren’t performing great.  Neither are we.

Chelsea have 3 away games remaining, against Fulham, Us, and Forest, their away form currently looks like this:

Chelsea are pants.  They were really excellent for the first 16 games or so.  But been average to pants since.

If we can keep players fit. I’m so confident we’ll beat them.  That’s why I’m annoyed they Villa are still in it.

Bookies still got us finishing 6 in their odds even with this weekends results

Historical results still favour Chelsea imo. City too. City’s form over the last 20 games isn’t top 5 form. Similar to Chelsea a good start is keeping them in the running.

I think we will do it as we have tended to win the ones that really matter this season. Am I right in thinking that the cushion for Europa league will be 6/7th unless palace win the cup, or Villa were to win and drop out of the top 7?

True, bookies say 6th

www.oddschecker.com/football/english/premier-league/top-6-finish

OPTA, after Sunday's results, says 5th.  Liverpool, Arsenal, then Forest 68, City 66, Us 65, Chelsea 64, Villa 62.

Difference between those and the others, the gaps. The ones in this post didn’t have the gap in same way as we, Villa or Leicester title win all had. Can have pressure, but when you’ve got a gap where you can ride out 2 poor results and still have a cushion, that’s a lot of pressure off because the season up to that point shows the results will come back in favour.

If it wasn’t that much about PSR and revenue and such then I genuinely wouldn’t mind it THAT much if we got EL instead. But yeah, I’m desperate for CL because of this. It gives us a much greater chance of closing the gap.

I'm basing it on Forest only getting 0-2 points from Everton & Spurs. If they win one, they'll be fine. Don't win either, that gap is likely under 3 points down to 6th.

Everton at home is an awkward one at the minute, then Spurs away. They're bad but they could beat anyone 4-0 on their day and it wouldn't be a surprise.

I'd like to see us finish 3rd and Forrest 4th. Couldn't give a shit other than that. Actually no, I'd like to see Chelsea finish 5th and then get banned from Europe.

Sure. The same goes the other way for Villa then. If they beat us and Man City, they are very much in it. Both of these scenarios are unlikely ones that could happen.

With a decision expected on City's charges soon, this season feels like a very easy one to give them enough of a points deduction to knock them out of Europe next season by not qualifying through the league. I'm not sure I'm enough of a conspiracy theorist to believe that internally they're already aware of what the punishment is likely to be and that's the reason their form has been so dodgy this year.
