(*1993/94 and 1994/95 were 42 games seasons so 19 games wasn't halfway)

38 points from 19 games is our highest halfway tally since the 2001/02 season, when Sir Bobby Robson's side had 39.

In 19 PL games so far this season, United have conceded 11 goals and Nick Pope has kept an enviable 11 clean sheets.

Sod it....based on reaching 72 points (71.5 points is the average to finish 4th). Using current league position to determine difficulty of fixture:

34 points needed. Let's say 19 points (6 wins & 1 draw) at home & 15 points (4 wins and 3 draws) away.

Crystal Palace (A) - 1 point needed

West Ham (H) - 3 points required

Bournemouth (A) - 3 points required

Liverpool (H) - 3 points required

Brighton (H) - 3 points required

Man City (A) - 0 points required

Wolves (H) - 3 points required

Nottingham Forest (A) - 1 point required

Manchester United (H) - 0 points required

Brentford (A) - 0 points required

Aston Villa (A) - 1 point required

Spurs (H) - 1 point required

Everton (A) - 3 points required

Southampton (H) - 3 points required

Arsenal (H) - 0 points required

Leeds (A) - 3 points required

Leicester (H) - 3 points required

Chelsea (A) - 0 points required

West Ham (A) - 3 points required

I feel that three game swing of Liverpool-Brighton-Man City will make or break our top 4 chances

The Brighton game might get postponed yet.

The length of Bruno's layoff is massive.

Oh shit yeah that would be league cup weekend

I think we need players in this month for it to happen. If not then I can see us being pipped by Spurs or Liverpool. Man Utd will definitely finish 3d or 4th so there is only one spot left.

I think its pretty clear now that Arsenal/City/Man U will be in the top three. Liverpool will be the biggest threat to us finishing 4th, despite their current shit form.

That's kind of what the odds say:

We have a bit of a cushion and are as short as 4/6 at places, but possibly the Ashley effect, or that our squad depth is so small, I still don't really see us as favourites for it. I'm still saying top 6 is fine, and anything else, especially CL, is a massive bonus. I won't feel like we have 'blown it' if we do get pipped towards the end of the season.

It would be crazy to write them off, half way through the season. They are still very capable of getting their shit together.

What about Chelsea? Chelsea could come right back into it. Forest could buy more players and surge up the league.

We’re going to be 12th at this rate

I'd rather win the league cup and finish 6th than not and finish 4th.
