It's been a crazy season so far , if someone had said pre season we would be level on points with Villa and 4 points behind Man City after 13 games we would all have taken it , it's the awful way we are playing pretty much every game that is the worry .

And if they said we’d be level with Fulham and only one ahead of Bournemouth and West Ham?

The Brighton game pisses me off on reflection. We were all over them and they won with a sucker punch counter. That followed up by Gordon’s pen miss in the Everton game right after has us on less points than IMO we deserve.

Plenty of games to go and we have a favorable fixture list after Liverpool makes me believe we can turn it around.

For all we've been poor in many of our games this season, not being a surprise given the window, 4 points off 5th and possible CL qualification means that we can still up our game and be in the mix for that at the end of the season. Plus another chance via the Carabao Cup. Botman being back will be a massive help in getting defensive solidity. The lack of cover for Isak with Wilson injured has cost us so far and we need to get another striker in Jan as any injury to Isak could be the difference between challenging for Europe and mid-table

Proper odd being only a point behind City, even with their form. We're right in the race currently, which makes it interesting going into Jan, surely worth strengthening?

If we can afford it we should spend on a right winger and try to push for a European place.

This is a really great season to be good but inconsistent.

We've just come through a ropey as fuck patch* but are still up there, your trajectory seems the same.

There isn't any real consistency beyond Liverpool and maybe Chelsea, so it's all to play for.

* actually, may still be in it tbh

Yes but also need a proper Isak backup too

Not sure who would be a RW who could also double up properly as a ST too (not like Gordon who is not a ST at all)

Such a strange season. Delighted with this form and we've done really well to make the league table look interesting again.

But looking at that table, already a sense of "what if" as we could easily be 4 to 6 points better off without it being complete fantasy.

Here's to the journey.

I think the easiest way to come to terms with that is it’s true for a lot of teams. Look at what Chelsea just threw away against Fulham.

New CL format, Villa doing well, and no Man U in the CL makes it more like for a fifth CL place for English teams. It could be on.

We certainly look a ton better with Sandro stepping in and intercepting allsorts and Bruno higher up hitting key passes. The first goal began with Sandro dispossessing Kamara. I don't remember us imposing ourselves so strongly and so early two months ago.

This is how it stands currently, so it's looking good for 5th spot as things stand
