The College Dropout
Can't see City winning the CL at all. Man U might jam their way through the Europa though. Doubt it. Maybe Spurs might. Really wanted Villa in the play-offs. This run and the Duran sale will give them a big PSR boost. Good chance of making the QFs. This season I can't see them finishing top 5 (not discounting them) but European football is still on. Next season they will be very serious imo. They should be able to invest well. Them keeping one of the 6 out the CL for another season might help gradually bring us all closer together. I don't see a world where we qualify for the CL next season and are able to qualify for the CL again the following season. We aren't allowed to build a squad to facilitate that. So best to rotate the CL spots as wide as possible.
McCormick
I see your point but I don’t think we’ll ever really catch up (financially) to the likes of Man Utd, City, Arsenal and Liverpool (even Chelsea but the rules are adversely affecting them too) so the best we can expect in the near future is to always be the team that capitalizes on one or more of them having a poor season and grab CL that way. I see Villa and ourselves (and Spurs) in competition for that spot and the less competition for us the better.

McCormick
Oh definitely, but once Son leaves, retires etc. I don’t see them being able to justify larger sponsorship revenues; you either need a global megastar or sustained success and I don’t see them getting those anytime soon. Coupled with the fact that their owners aren’t as willing as ours to take on losses year on year; I see them as very catchable. NWMag Posted Saturday at 13:55 Share Posted Saturday at 13:55 Forest aren’t going away are they. feels like we have to win today & beat Forest later this month, going to be a key game that one.
Turnbull2000 Posted Saturday at 14:04 Share Posted Saturday at 14:04 Forest looking very good for top 4 now with Pool, Arse, Forest, City. Between us, Chelsea, Bourn and Villa for 5th.
Geordie Ahmed Posted Saturday at 14:12 Share Posted Saturday at 14:12 Win today and the gap between us and 9th is 10 points, the chances of 8th being some form of European football is very high Could do with Villa/Bournemouth falling away

They have ran up real world losses the last few years so I guess they don’t have the cash (in PSR land they are ok as it’s all excluded from the calcs, but not sure they have real money to buy players). Arsenal went through a similar phase post Emirates. Once that debt is down they’ll be very strong financially

Spurs revenue is impressIve. Tottenham Hotspur has PSR headroom, but that's distinct from their overall financial situation. Their recent accounts showed a loss above £200 million, largely due to stadium repayments, which doesn't affect their PSR. This creates a misconception about their financial health. Our owners are prepared to utilize our full PSR headroom, even if it means operating at a loss. Some clubs, including Tottenham, cannot or will not take that approach. You only have to look at Manchester United to see why. This explains why many teams in the bottom half of the league are content with the £105 million, three-year rolling loss limit. Not every club has owners like us who are willing to bank roll the project.

Top 8 in danger of pulling away a little now but Europe comes into play for a couple of clubs so picture could change. 4th or 5th is there for the taking, right now I'd be disappointed with anything below 6th
