Not being in Europe sure helps.

So we will be fine next season...

Feel like a lot us are probably thinking this and alongside the Howe staying news but also that we're going to win the next three and spawn some sort of Europe next season 😅

Okay, Frogsta. The institutional and financial structures/biases have played no part in your recovery and our fall. It's a level playing field and it's all down to your club being extremely competent.

This is why we went to Panama, man.

You went to Panama because the two of you were terrified of losing to me. No need to dress it up any other way. We all saw the screenshots.

But anyway, back to business...

You spent £260m. We spent £230m.

You increased your wage bill by £400k per week over last season. We reduced ours by £200k (reportedly of course).

You kept your manager who's 5 years into his project, and we currently have an interim manager who had only managed a handful of PL games before.

Not sure how you can blame your drop and our ascendency on PSR to be honest. Your recruitment last summer was rubbish and you've been crap. We had a good summer recruitment wise and have played fairly decent.

I still think we'll be competitive with each other next season mind. Keeping Eddie was a good decision IMO.

PSR enabled the incredibly messy departure of our best player; thereby massively weakening us whilst simultaneously strengthening a club we would otherwise have been competing with. PSR also enabled any worthwhile replacement to be hoarded by the ESL collective, leading to our 'rubbish recruitment.'

Money spent is a relatively meaningless figure and devoid of context. It's a strawman, especially if you're not even going to go as far as presenting the net spend figure (yours was £60m higher than ours according to TM). But even that's out of date as a metric in today's world of revenues and amortisation.

I wouldn't blame our drop on PSR, at least not entirely.

What it does mean is that one disastrous window massively hamstrings us going forwards, whereas you can follow Hojlund/Mount/Onana with Yoro/de Ligt/Zerkzee, miss out on Europe all together and still sign Sesko, Mbeumo & Cunha.

Plucky underdogs Manchester United reduced their wage bill by 2/3 of Jadon Sancho's weekly pay packet. Must be tough working under those financial constraints

Even if we did break character and win the last three games, is 54 points enough for top 8? I don’t think so. Maybe just about top 9 if it goes to that.

Bless Bruno’s heart aiming for it.

We've went from 15th to 3rd while reducing the squads wages. Dress it up however you want.

It's going to drop a lot more this summer as well.

You're not going to get any answer from the Frogster on this that's going to be accurate man.

It's like going to Elon Musk for his analysis on inequality. If you're lucky you'll get the most biased analysis you've ever heard, but more likely than not you'll just get denial that it even exists and stuff about how he and his dad had to work hard to get where he is.

I thought we were past those days 🫤

Anyone know what needs to be done by Arsenal, Villa/Forest and Palace to gain the most European spots by league position?

Top 8 get conference league if City win cup, or Chelsea do and finish top 7.

Forest could be in Champions Legaue if win Europa but that doesn’t mean anything on league position. Palace gets UEFA if they win but makes no difference to league.

Arsenal makes no difference.

Villa finishing 5th and winning Europa means 6th gets Champions League. But England lose a place in UEFA if that happens.

So, we need to finish top 8 to qualify for Europe and hope City win FA Cup if we do finish 8th.

Arsenal, Palace and Forest irrelevant.

Man City win FA Cup or Chelsea win it AND finish top 7 (or 8 if below occurs), and a second Europa place goes to league.

Villa win Europa AND finish 5th (specifically), 6CL place gets added to league, knocking Europa and Conf places down a position.

Both those things happen and it’s top 9 in Europe.

edit:

oh I’m wrong about last bit according to @Maggiesabove - we lose a Europa?

It literally gives a scenario where 9th (and 10th) can qualify? Apart from a brain, what am I missing?

Does it?

I read it as top 8 is the max, Forest and Palace winning the EL / CL doesn't impact the league qualification places.

But it's early and brain still half asleep so could be wrong

You would have to have an IQ of under 70 to make genuine comparisons between the impact of PSR on Newcastle and Man Utd. I know Froggy is smarter than that, so this is bait.

Im not sure it says tenth is possible - it does say *ten teams*. Could be wrong. The only viable ninth one needs Palace to finish top 7,  which is v unlikely.

The extra CL place that could happen doesn’t bump the places down to ninth as I thought.
