Not sure what’s going on with this lad. Sometimes just doesn’t have anything in his game, sometimes looks like he has everything. 
 

Probably something to do with mentality and possibly his relationship with his teammates as well. 
 

Noticed right on half time that Barnes was raging because Gordon ignored him a great position. 
 

I really rate Gordon in theory but I’m leaning towards trying to get money for him and invest it in more reliable attackers.

It’s definitely the last part. You can tell he’s trying to work on it with all the pr and mentality stuff. I honestly find it bizarre the narratives some fans have imposed on him on the back of him being shite. 
 

He’s definitely not a striker though and it’s only harming is form further shoe horning him in there. 
 

This season is going to be a bit of a cross roads for him for us I think.

Just want to see him lash in a high shot or two, seems to be a lot of bobbling side foot placement attempts. Not sure if it is confidence or being determined to do what he thinks has the best probability. Ahhh I am not really sure, it is just so disappointing. When he puts everything together and plays with more freedom he is such a handful and can be a joy to watch. The coaching staff, and himself, must be even more frustrated than us fans, but that is a pretty high bar at the moment.

A chance to put us up 2-0. Overruns the ball or doesn’t have confidence to ready himself or take it with his left. Stands and waits a few seconds, doesn’t square it to Barnes who’s screaming for it. GK is way off his line. Decides to not take the defender on, a tame shot that is easily blocked. He gets it back waits a few seconds and passes it further back and ref blows whistle.

Guy clearly short on confidence and being slagged to fuck. Just hope this pessimism is kept to online and not the stadium. We're supposed to get behind our players. I reckon if it was Barnes who was playing like this (and a few times he has), you wouldn't get any of the crap Tony Gord gets. You'd get ppl saying he needs to be dropped probs, but not pages of ppl slagging him off.

I don’t think Barnes has ever had a long enough run in the side to end up getting pelters. Not when he is so clearly out of form and has been consistently playing so badly, anyway. I’m sure it would turn soon enough. 
 

I’m one of Gordon’s harshest critics on here. So not much point me adding anything to the pile on. But his confidence looks lower than Starmer’s approval rating. 
 

I’m not sure what the answer is. But playing him every week when fit, even when he looks so out of sorts, isn’t really working.

Back him all the time, but even I’m getting big vibes of a guy that’s got one eye on a move either in January or summer. People who are hounding him right now, better not act all shocked when he wants out because that’s what most want isn’t it?

 

I’ve always wanted to keep him, because if he added goals he would be a proper top winger that would cost us £70m+ to get close too. But the goals don’t look like ever coming because his finishing is still so poor. Think if an offer does come that’s circa £70m, we have to take it. Give Barnes a new deal as the back up LW as he moves into his final years and go and sign that technical winger which we didn’t do on the right. 
 

What move is possibly there for him though, I’d say Liverpool, only if they feel they have to get a LW and CB in January.

This will be a guy that’s regularly in the England camp and hearing about title challenges, UCL etc. and whilst his stock is high, probably want to cash in on it if it’s felt we’re not close to that (which we’re not really). Plus the Liverpool move is possibly there for a small window these next 6 months.
