John P
Didn't he almost exclusively play right wing for Everton? My only memories of seeing him play there were always on the right, so it's a bit weird that he seemingly doesn't like playing there any more. He's certainly played more often on the right in his career than Barnes has, and at the moment Barnes deserves to keep his place on the left

Optimistic Nut
Having him available again is what gives me confidence we'll see it through to CL qualification. Just means we're strong on the wings for the full game again.

Decky Posted Thursday at 08:50 Share Posted Thursday at 08:50 (edited) Gordon has had a few spells of being pretty poor this season so he only has himself to blame that Barnes took his chance and made the position his own. I can't see both Barnes and Gordon hanging around beyond next season being rotated all the time, both far too good not to be starting every game for their club. Expand I don't think this is possible / good with a team that is challenging in the CL. City & Liverpool only have 1 attacker that starts every game and neither has to do the same amount of work off the ball that Gordon/Barnes has to do. That's Isak in our case, not Gordon. Arsenal are the exception who seem to run their attackers into the ground and they've picked up loads of injuries this season. I also don't think Gordon is good enough to start 50 games for another team in the CL.

If he loses that he'll want to be starting week in week out somewhere. I've full faith on Gordon coming back in though, if he finds his form again he's one of our best players.
