Financial Fair Play / Profit & Sustainability - New APT Rules Approved by Premier League

Recommended Posts

I agree though we should try to strike now whilst the irons hot with a few prospective deals

Problem is , From what we have seen of this ownership (so far)  we don’t want to rock the boat and everything so far has been by the book

How Masters is still in his job or at least under more pressure than a fans petition is baffling.  They have stated that the unlawful loans rule was added by object(knowingly).  Allowing a rule to even be voted on like this is on him.

Two reasons:

1) Finding anyone competent wanting to walk into the current mess of the league eating itself alive and completely fractured is a long shot.

2) He’s the useful idiot the Red Cartel put in charge, literally to the level of Man Utd and Liverpool having a soft interview with him.

He has overseen a flatlining of the league’s tv rights deals and brought civil war through fluffing his Cartel paymasters. Incompetent doesn’t do it justice.

Retrospective - Won’t happen

Then all current spent pertaining to PSR shouldn't be taken into account either then - basically a clean slate for all.

Yeah City are barking up the wrong tree with that. Civil lawsuits on financial losses though could be used.

The thing is that as they stand the APT rules are possibly void, which means as if they never existed, which means a free for all until they bring in something new (although still subject to the UEFA rules).

Meaning now is the perfect time to tighten the scews on the PL and propose some (more) big sponsorships for ratification. If the PL turn them down or stall them (even pointing towards their own rules being found unlawful) that nicely sets the PL up for even more damage payment liability.

100% agree but being pedantic; having to follow a PL process where a club has a sponsorship deal on the table is probably part of the associated party rules.  I guess the associated party rules cover:

- telling the premier league there is a new sponsorship deal worth more than 1 million

- determining if a deal is associated or not

- if it is determining whether it is fair market value

If the rules are void potentially there is no need to even submit a deal for ratification.  Just announce it.

Just reflecting on the whole thing, we know the whole APT / PSR mechanics whiffs of the US owners. They are closer than ever to their desired outcome of a closed shop. There’s basically no relegation - three clubs are given a crack and look like being bludgeoned down to the Championship with a whimper. At the top, other than the occasional interloper like us and Villa, the Top 6 roles are cast.

I honestly think in the next 10-20 years, we won’t have relegation at all. We’ll have an 18 team Premier League.

Possibly, but that's probably not the best way to go about it because that would put us at potential risk of consequences if we're wrong, and submitting deals for ratification puts the PL is a very sticky position that if they do try to block or delay them we could potentially claim damages.

I’d rather see the Yank owners driven out. They’re a cancer in the league. The pissweak Pound has made it easier for these arseholes and the private equity sharks to pick out clubs off. Honestly hate any involvement these shysters have with our sport. We all know their end game and we’re bumbling into it without a fight.

This is fun. I don't really care what happens to us, I just want to see the whole thing burn to the ground. Going well for me so far, and this is just the start.

I've been saying for years that football will implode on itself but every year it seems to have been stretched and stretched and somehow the bubble hasn't burst. However, now feels like it may finally be the start of the end (in England).

APT has to be a thing somewhat to prevent owners (such as our own) absolutely blowing competition out of the water. However, if the PL have a say over what is "reasonable" based on other transactions then the likelihood is that clubs below the cartel and trying to break into it will never be allowed deals that surpass those clubs' commercial deals until such a point they are of similar/same quality and historical value. So in other words, status quo is by and large maintained.

The Premier League isn't fit for purpose anymore and trust of those leading it has sll but gone. There should be folk either at the FA or as part of a board at the PL making some very quick and drastic decisions re. Masters if they want to maintain any respect - however, that doesn't appear to be forthcoming.

Therefore it will remain bent.

Is the PL at risk of becoming financially broken and bankrupt? Is it at risk of member clubs saying they no longer want to be a part? Could we see two "top flights" with the cartel clubs essentially getting their super league wish and the rest in the actual top flight?

In a desperate attempt to curtail Man City and nip NUFC in the bud with our new owners the so called top six have blown the league apart.

Absolute madness.

Perhaps that was there intention? After the whole Super League debacle...

I kind of wondered if the ‘cartel’ clubs wanted to make the PL so unpalatable with them in it that the league would welcome them breaking away and joining the proposed Super League.

Whether all this accelerates their desire to do so or seriously impedes it, I have no idea.

I’ve said this as part of other rants I’ve made in here, but I’ll raise it again as a single point:

Why didn’t the PL investigate Ashley’s APT’s between NUFC & Sports Direct, which were clearly not FMV?

I think the maximum he paid to plaster our entire ground in SD logos was £2m in a season. And for the last 2 seasons of his reign, SD paid NOTHING. We were being financially abused by an APT parasite

When it came to protecting NUFC from this parasitic abuser, the PL didn’t give a fuck

But surprise surprise they reacted within days when we potentially had the financial clout to challenge the cartel

Aye, what a job they did protecting us. Locked us in a cage with a flesh-eating parasite and then when someone came along with a key and antidote they locked them in the cage with us as well

You know what? I even love that. Anything  that could fuck the EPL up - I would welcome it now. Fuck them, all are corrupt bastards.

If the norm is to cheat through the failed rules, just do it. That would be “fair”. I don’t fucking care where our money comes from now.

It is fucking obvious that the whole league just want to fuck us up. Just us. Just because we are deemed not “glorious” enough to have a chance to be competitive. Fuck them all

They might do, but surely those who seemingly wish to form a European Super League must notice how the recent change to the CL format has diminished the excitement and wonder if we did this would we be slaying the Golden Goose

And what if the PL has notified that the Everton, Villa, Newcastle and Chelsea swaps are also APTs to be evaluated?

What is he referring to here? My brain has turned to mush reading all this shite.
