True but the manager he plays for may feel different.

Thats the job of whoever is in charge of loans.   Minteh went out on loan at a pretty high level, stepping up in levels not stepping down like Miley would be and quadrupled his value.

We're not in a position to be loaning out decent first team squad members like, that's before you even consider where you would loan him to.

If we qualify for CL we need much better squad quality depth.

Game time this season will be limited, as it will for all outside the core XI (Gordon/Barnes/Murphy only rotation). One game a week, it’ll be roll with near same XI and changes in final 10 unless game is dead and buried either way.

Next season, depending how we finish, he could be needed first early games for Euro qualifying and starting several games by October. If we’re in UCL, he’s got to be trusted to start league games as rotation will be needed then.

Those 3 are similar in levels/output. Miley’s levels below the big 3.

The Minteh loan deserves an asterisk, he went to Feyenoord and played for Slot. Who won them a title, had CL exposure etc. Slot then goes to England and shows his chops by (probably) winning the PL title.

While that’s a tough repeat scenario, ideally if Miley goes out on loan it’s to a proper coached side with history of developing players.

No way we should think of selling, and after losing Anderson I don't think Howe will entertain it. It would have to be a last PSR resort and I don't think we're in that hole any more?

A loan, maybe with a recall option maybe.

Making some assumptions, I don't see how Miley could be allowed to leave on loan or permanently .

Those assumptions being, Longstaff is surely going to be leaving, we haven't got any other CMs imminently coming through the youth teams and Willock can't be relied upon to be fit all season.

Arguably we could do with bring in another CM this window rather than letting any leave.

Yeah it's a funny one that but what if someone puts 45m down like Forest did for MGW? We'd have to make a decision on whether he's truly destined for the top or not because it's alot of money to turn down.

You can see why someone like Everton or West Ham might be willing to shell out for a top young English midfielder, for example.

Like some have mentioned above, he should get plenty of game time but is he ready for that? If one of our midfielders gets injured, is Miley ready to step in for 15/20 games?

A loan wouldn't make any sense either because we'd be getting the worst of both worlds.

I would be absolutely raging if we sold him. With the right development I really think he could be our best academy product since the eighties (I realise not the highest bar)

I agree and I'm not advocating a sale but let's play devil's advocate for a second....

40 odd million (guesswork) pure profit in the PSR coffers might be the difference in us signing 2 more first team ready players.

I also think that if we are to head to the top, we might not want to get attached to young players that come through the system. Have a look at Man City and Chelsea, they churn out players precisely for selling them on.

I wouldnt want to have to make that decision, if a big offer came in.

He does need to get on the pitch more. His role this year when not injured has been zero pretty much.

This. From his perspective I can imagine he’s getting itchy feet. He’s a better player than Andersen who left and made a name for himself at a side chasing CL football. Eddie will need to find a wag to trust him with more minutes or we may as well cash in and allow the kid to fulfil his potential elsewhere.

I get the feeling Miley's in his Hall 23/24 season and will come to the fore as a regular rotation player next season. Without injuries last season we'd have hardly seen him and know what he's capable of.

Do think we'll sell him eventually though due to this utterly backwards PSR situation.

It would be pretty disastrous to be in a position to have to let him go unless it was for an huge fee, and especially given the number of games we’ll have next season. We need extra if anything and I don’t think keeping Longstaff is an option.

I dont see anyone coming in with that offer after this season. Might be tempted if it came, knowing how much it would help us in our FFP situation.

Hall got a run of games at the end of that season and took the momentum through the summer and into this season though. I think Miley’s a couple of seasons behind that.

It would help if we gave him a bit more time on the field but his sub appearances recently have lacked the right energy. He needs way more aggression in his game both with and without the ball.

Not sure what the answer is because with Longstaff likely off in the summer we’ll probably bring another CM in to replace him who could keep Miley down as 6th choice. Fortunately he’s still only 18 and has loads of time on his side.

Why is Romano posting about this though. Random as fuck for it to not have came for club or players side

Because he has been asked to by an agent.

It could well be Mileys people trying to drum up interest or it could be another club trying to unsettle him.
