jack j
2nd half it died down and plenty early leavers but the corner was good again Said it another thread but on Sunday I came away from the game thinking it was probably the best league atmosphere all season Watched the highlights on sky and could barely hear owt
Danh1
Was quality until we scored the first. Very loud and loads of different songs going all around the ground. Then it was decent until half way through the second half and then it was just meh. Disappointing to see loads leave early.
bobbydazzla Posted yesterday at 06:13 Share Posted yesterday at 06:13 (edited) Fuck all this early kick off means a shite atmosphere noncesense, it needs to be pure radged up ructions from all of us in there today NO EXCUSES Edited yesterday at 06:14 by bobbydazzla
Adam
Loud as fuck to start with, got bit nervous later on. Good noise as always from the boys in the corner, just a shame the leaves end wasn't starting chants. Overall did what was needed and plenty of support. Also very nice to see the flags you put out work in the display.

I was in the leases corner and it was deafening at one point. Strange how the sound must travel mind because I thought ‘the corner’ was quiet. But must just depend where you’re sitting. cracking atmosphere overall though, great day.
SiLvOR
Seemed excellent through the TV. Second half a bit quiet/nervy, but that's very much understood
Rich
Not sure I’ve heard it that loud before during the little bit after Tonali scored, PSG included, my ears were ringing and the sound just seemed to be echoing back off the Gallowgate roof. Class.
Tsunami
Was the sound turned down on the tv? Seem a few mentions that it was quiet, it was really pretty loud on the whole. East Stand nearest Gallowgate joined in and the Leazes started a few when the Gallowgate was quiet. For a noon kickoff it was really good.

This often seems to be the case on TNT coverage, they must be messing with the sound levels to some degree as I've been to games where the atmosphere has been great and then when I watch the highlights it sounds nowhere near as loud
OCOCOL
First half was very good. Whilst the corner do their bit I think sometimes when the lads need it the wider gallowgate end are generating the noise. Wish the same could be said about the Leazes - we need a standing section there and then the ground would be bouncing
OCOCOL
We love you Newcastle we do .. without the “you” from the strawberry corner still winds me up more than it should
Danh1
First ten minutes or so was fucking class. Won’t find it better than that anywhere, celebrations where I was in the corner were crazy as well. Thought it was okay after that, red card actually hindered the atmosphere as it was if the crowd expected us to batter them from there but that obviously didn’t happen. Some loud chants towards full time to get the team over the line.
Wolfcastle
Seemed good, by all accounts (other than perveyors of county cricket atmospheres (if the radio is anything to go by) on RTG obviously) was. Maresca's even using it as an excuse for the card. The best atmosphere's anyone's experienced had dips, probably relative to the game. Its natural. Constant noise is only really created by cosplaying ultras and isn't actually support. Edited 18 hours ago by Wolfcastle
AyeDubbleYoo
Was very good generally, given every song is so fast that most people can’t keep up. The second half everyone got so nervous but I don’t really think any crowd in the country could avoid that with the way the game was going.
Danh1
I noticed a load of people left early again. Not even 2pm on a Sunday, would it hurt to stay a few more minutes?
Wallsendmag
Sat in the Platinum Club today, slightly nearer the Gallowgate End. Leazes End actually generates more noise than the Gallowgate does. They only sang 4 or 5 times but when they did it was noticeably louder than what the Gallowgate produced. Middle tier of the Gallowgate is an absolute dead zone. That's about 4,000 people offering absolutely nothing. Final analysis. That's probably the best 12pm KO atmosphere there's ever been in this country. Kilcline
Might be wishful hearing but I swear the shite "TOON" after "UNITED!" is gradually getting quieter and we're getting back to the claps. ✊🏻 Solidarity with all fellow clappers who have persisted so people eventually follow
shorty
Thought it was a decent atmosphere today - good backing from the corner and seemed to spread around the ground at times too which it doesn't always do. I've almost lost my voice as a result too.

A few fans do their best, but there isn't enough take up of the songs to really get the place bouncing.

Honestly mate it's like looking at a load of cardboard cut outs. Looked across at the corner, they're giving it all they've got. Upper tier looked canny, same with the lower but then you've got the middle tier who contributed absolutely nothing to proceedings. I get that the vast majority of them have had those seats since 1994 and are knocking on a bit now but they're totally ruining what is our "home end". Outside of moving to a new ground I'm not really sure what can be done about it however. Like I said Leazes sounded very loud on the occasions they sang and on a couple of occasions when both them and the Gallowgate were singing at the same time we would join in with the Leazes because it was louder from there. PRL
In 30 years of going, that first 10 mins was the loudest I’ve ever heard the ground. No idea why or how, but that was absolutely mental.
Adam
If the lower gallowgate was safe standing, the place would be rocking for 90 minutes.
