The Prophet Posted March 12, 2023 Share Posted March 12, 2023 (edited) The penalty decision could have gone either way, depending on the referee and how he was feeling that day, but once he makes a decision it isn't clear and obvious enough to overturn. It's thick from Pope, but Jimenez is absolutely gagging for contact. So much so he changes the direction of his run. If an outfield player committed the same foul in the box and wasn't the last man there's no way VAR gives it. This will get talked about more because it's a keeper and he's the last man. Played really well, don't get some fans bashing ASM either, solid performance. Isak running in behind gives us a different dimention which we have missed. He stops as soon as he touches the ball too to initiate more contact which I think he was anticipating but didn’t come. You’re absolutely seething if it’s the other way round though. In all honesty though there is minimal contact from Pope, and not at his legs. If he went down later, he would have probably got a penalty and we couldn’t have had any complaints. Let’s call it fair game since we should have had a penalty at their place earlier in the season, and I also think our penalty shout also deserved more of a look at.
