Not particularly arsed if it’s Spurs or another of the usual six - don’t see why Spurs finishing 17th makes a difference, they’re vastly more wealthy.  It’s the number they pay that matters.  Tonali’s had about four or five good months in three years - if we can get daft money for him I don’t think it’s a great loss.  Spurs seems a far, far more obvious destination than a Man City or Liverpool to me - he’s the embodiment of a Spurs player.

If we can get anything over 90M I'd take it. There are loads of players who can do what Tonali does. Alex Scott and Adam Wharton in the PL and cheaper alternatives in Europe.

Jeez and I remember thinking in the aftermath of the takeover "well at the very least we won't ever really have to sell a good player if we don't want to". I reckoned without PSR and bullshit shill paid journos doing the bidding of clubs it seems. Is every summer window going to be like this? I think he means signing Tonali would step up (i.e improve) Spurs level, rather than it being a step up for Tonali.

It will always be like this unless we can match the income of the big clubs - and in that regard we’re as far behind now as we were in 2021.  Every club on the planet other than maybe half a dozen are ultimately ‘selling clubs’.  We were always likely to (and should have done better at) flipping the players we brought in - there are no players who can be said to be here ‘long term’ - they’re here until a bigger club gives an offer we can’t refuse.

So torn about him. If he's going to sulk and his form will be like the last 6 months then anything over £80m is far better invested elsewhere. But the player we had in the second half of 2024/25 was hard to fathom losing.

 

Ultimately I don't want anyone here come August who isn't 100% in.

I'm starting to get sick of him tbh, aye he was great in 24/25 but he's been twerking for a move ever since and his performances last season won't be hard to improve upon. I'm utterly bored out my skull of seeing the Gnocchi Gnonce linking him with a move seemingly every week. If you don't want to be here just fuck off.

 

A real shame, I had the feeling that he built a connection with the area/fans and felt like he owed us one for standing by him during the ban.

It would be daft to mock the idea of him going to Spurs because the league resets every summer. 

 

Outside of living in London on good money I don't see many sporting incentives on his part. I think his agent expected Man City or Man Utd to come calling as both need an energetic midfielder, but neither seem to fancy him.
