Did Liverpool bin off their scouting department and just invest in a lot of surveillance and espionage equipment and install it in Dan Ashworth’s office?

They have seen our success in the transfer market - we need to throw them a few red herrings

So what’s the plan here? Wait for all the other big spenders to blow their cash so we get a free run at the likes of Lavia? Noticed Man Utd can’t afford Onana because of FFP, Liverpool and Arsenal must be close to being finished for this window. Leaves Chelsea who want caicido, and Man City.

Don't know if it will be Lavia as such, but probably not the worst idea to let the Hallowed Six get their spending done and then bring in our own targets once the field is clear. I'm sure there'll be a few clubs circling the same group of players, so unless we really know someone is set on coming here, it makes no sense to push the boat out too publicly.

To save anyone reading…

• We have spent the majority of our budget on Tonali.

• Southampton want £30 million for Livramento, we have offered £21 million and will walk away if we can’t get an agreement this week.

• Our most pressing need is a right centre back, we also want a left back and another centre midfielder.

• No mention of wanting a right winger.

• Looking throughout Europe for bargains or players we can take on loan with either an option or obligation to buy.

• Interested in Kelvin Phillips on loan and we have tried for Gallagher on loan the last 2 windows.

A nothing story.

so we want another 4 players but don't have any money to pay for them? uh-oh.

Kalvin Phillips on loan might not be the worst idea in the world. City are probably the only "big 6" team who would deal with us and it would allow us to focus money elsewhere.

Hence the alleged loan targets I would think. But we don't want a right winger? Either this is all fantasy or he really is more in the know than we think. Or maybe he just forgot to include that gap in the squad when he was making this up.

A wide forward who scores goals should be the absolute priority.

Is that not why we’ve just bought Gordon?
