I assume it's no big deal to lose a few milion here or there, but it's just more money we won't see down the line. It seems to be a growing concern with players like Trippier, Miggy, Targett and so on. I guess the idea must be they are more valuable than the money and we should write it off basically. Seem to get a fortune for them. Only for them to then perform nowhere near a level befitting of their price tag. It'd probably be a bit like having another Ben Arfa where you wonder what could've been tbh. Even though he hasn't been playing every minute for Lyon this season he's way out in front for shot creating actions per 90 and expected assists per 90 across the whole league, and second for everyone's favourite metric expected threat. Debt is spread across the ownership group (some of Palace, Botafogo, some Belgian team and OL) which must be what the French FA look at. They absolutely love relegating teams for an irregularity.
