NUFC Transfer Rumours

Rashfords other option is a Sancho or Lukaku style loan deal, where he gets the money and a second chance on the pitch. Would mean Germany, Spain or Italy, doubt they’d do it for a PL club

Id support that as Man Utd would still get rinsed for at least 200k pw.

Win some trophies? Play for England again? Go to another World Cup?

There’s loads really. People are talking like he’s some pub player now. He’d be mental to jack it in.

Obviously we don’t know the state of his finances away from football, but unless he’s been particularly reckless, he’ll already have secured the futures of the next couple of generations at the very least.

He wouldn't be jacking football in he'd be coasting. He's been an elite athletic for a long time it must be incredibly draining and I'm surprised more instances of burnout don't occur.

He's not winning the Premier league or the champions league and he isn't winning anything internationally. I think for a lot of players football is just a job tbh.

Oh and he's a massive spender

For elite level players, which has definitely been, and probably still is, even if he’s not shown it for a prolonged period now, football is far more than a job. It’s an all consuming, way of life.

Rashford allowing it not to be that all consuming way of life in recent times, is probably why he’s dropped off. He gets a move, and gets back to that and you can see him picking up again.

People go way overboard on the Rashford bashing. Top player, and would have him here if his wages was 50% less.

Nah. Think he is very talented. But clearly has issues away from football and in how he applies himself.

Sounds like a terrible trainer, out on the smash a fair bit and have you seen him off the ball? Makes ASM look like Kante with his work rate.

Can’t be arsed to put effort in for his boyhood club. Why would it be different here or somewhere else?

Shame he’s gone down this route. I used to really like him as a player and seemed a great person off the pitch.

50%? That woul make him our top earner instantly. Absolutely no way even at that for what he offers.

Rashford is essentially the player profile that Man City signed in the 2010 to close the gap. Think if PSR was not a thing, we would be all over him like a Rash.

Once you get to a certain level of money though, wouldn't you just do what you love? Even if it meant taking a massive paycut? I mean, it obviously depends on the individual but I know if I was a millionaire then I'd happily take a paycut to do stuff I enjoy doing because I had the means to do so. I'd be enjoying myself and easily supporting myself because of the work I'd put in previously.

Wouldn't take Rashford at all. He's at the apologising for his career stage already and, fine, looking for a fresh start. I just don't like players who publicly ask to leave despite the trust of various managers who have tried to get the most out of his clear talent.

I have a sneaky suspicion Rashford is exactly the kind of “lost” player Eddie could turn around, but it will never happen due to the costs involved.

He can also turn water into wine…

Joelinton’s transformation is pretty close. Nothing like it in Newcastles history and not much like it anywhere.

Well i would say in regards to Rashford there’s “quite” a bit of difference to Joelinton when it comes to mentality, hunger and willingness.

Why? He isn’t a Howe player at all. Almost the polar opposite.

Even if you think Mitchell is the main man and calls the shots now and Howe might be going. Even if you imagine for a minute PSR didn’t exist. Why would we be interested in him and why would it be a good signing?

Numbers nowhere near his worth and wages. 27 years old, so not much re-sale value if he suddenly became good/started trying again. Off field issues by all accounts.

Genuinely interested what reasons people have for him being a good signing for someone?!

There really is a dichotomy with players sometimes, either you're brilliant or utter shit. In reality Rashford has proven pedigree for scoring plenty of goals, he's just fairly limited in other areas, clearly has some off the field struggles that impact him, and is also on astronomical wages that very few can afford and anyone who can, can afford better players. But he's not total dogshit, maybe he has been of late with form, but he's just a player useful in some circumstances.

I guess it comes down to whether you believe Rashford to be inherently a “bad egg” or the victim of some really poor management and a few dopes in his entourage. I personally find it hard to believe the guy behind the school meals could be such a terrible person but it doesn’t matter since it’ll never happen.

If we're spending in Jan it has to be RW and then GK and then LCM/CB.

Come the end of the summer we need have covered all 4 of those, plus another controller for the 6 role to develop, and a back up right back if Trips leaves and Krafth can't stay fit.

Also, replacing anyone that leaves.

Tbh a ready-made striker is one of the most urgent signings we need to make if Howe doesn't think Osula is ready. Someone who doesn't pull up trees but can do a job up front to facilitate our play to allow Isak to rest or cover when injured. I think Wilson is done.
