NUFC Transfer Rumours

Recommended Posts

If we have learned anything from the last few seasons, it's that Howe prizes versatility more than most. I would imagine that every player we target (apart from Trafford obv) would be able to play multiple positions at a high level. Any rumour involving anyone who doesn't can be immediately dismissed.

Agree, but I think you can except CB from the list as well.

Kind of, but even then you have Dan Burn, who played a very competent LB for ages. Krafth too. And we will need versatility in the system they can play, too. I think it's different but even by CB standards, I still think we want versatile players.

I’m not sure. We needed versatility before because we didn’t have 11 PL quality players and/or we had nobody capable of playing a given position competently.

Of course it’s nice to be versatile but it’s something a well managed squad should really need that much of IMO.

Really don't like us being linked to established high profile strikers as the immediate conclusion I draw is that we're selling Isak.

Not arsed really since I don't take most links that seriously.

Pope not top 10 [emoji38]

If your referring to my post you've misread what I said (if not then ignore me lol), no top 6 side will want to buy him, I'm absolutely certain on that, that's already enough to tell me that's a problem. There's very few players in our 1st eleven that would be true about besides Pope. I also think it's highly unlikely a side that finishes top 10 would look to buy him either.

He's had two bad shoulder injuries, that would put many off, his kicking is arguably the worst in the league, and most managers want a keeper good with their feet to play out from the back.

I'm not trying to disrespect Pope, been a great Keeper for us, will always be a legend for being part of the cup winning team, but someone will always be the weakest of the 11, for me it's very very clearly him in the current 1st team 11 which makes it essential we upgrade him.

Trafford is a no brainer for me. Should have got him last summer but IMO we can't afford to miss out on him. Pope is fine and maybe he could go another season as first choice but I think we'd hugely regret not getting Trafford while we can.

He'll be the best keeper in the Premier League in two/three years time.

Quite a statement that - is that based on his form for Burnley?

Pope is class he has worldie matches in his locker. Paris away Leicester at home Brighton away just to name a few. Without him for long periods we'd struggle in my opinion.

That's why I like the Trafford as his understudy idea.

Worldie matches like Leicester at home? He made one save that he probably should’ve saved. I understand that it gets highlighted because of the importance but come on. He’s a good goalkeeper no question but he’s not elite.

I can't help but think about Alisson and Ederson and how their distribution is vital to the intent of those sides. Take Villa even, remember their 2nd goal against us when Martinez played it over our press right into Tielemans, who had acres of space to start the move that ended up with a goal. We end up so often having only one way to play because Pope cannot reliably distribute the ball. He is a fantastic shotstopper but there is a lot more to goalkeeping within the tactical framework we want to use. I think a better ball playing keeper would improve our consistency and ability to dictate play against lesser sides.

I think he’s on about the game In 22/23 and if you think he should’ve been expected to make that save, you need a trip to the optician

When we get linked to likes of Eze, I always see it as more agents using our name to help with negotiations with the player off elsewhere.

This. Similar to that pencil necked cunt Maddison when we were linked before he went to Spuds.

He saved it didn't he? After having nothing to face all game a lot of goalkeepers switch off.

Best keeper I've seen in a toon top.

Aye but we'll be a better team with a better keeper.

You could be right but theres not many better around

His passing has looked better of late aswell.

He's elite as a keeper except for his kicking

Woild you rather have an onana type brilliant on the ball but a rick waiting to happen?

Id take Huijsen over Guehi personally. Higher ceiling imo.

I can see Guehi being similar to Lescott going to City and starting them off as a title winning side. I think Guehi's better than he was but it'd be that sort of profile signing.

I assumed he meant the one right at the end that secured the 0-0 that was right at him. Wasn’t from JM mind so maybe different saves.

Good save, but he lets that in and we’re all asking questions.
