I don’t believe any of you actually think we’re as bad at transfers as you keep saying, or Howe is obsessed with PL players, or any of this shite. It’s just something to stress about.

I really want us to sign Mbeumo, think he’s perfect for us. Him and Guehi in early, I could kind of relax for the summer and see what happens and not be in here refreshing constantly.

I don't believe we're incompentent but I also don't believe Palace were particularly easy to deal with given what we saw last summer. It takes many parties to seal a deal.

To be fair, it later transpired some of that "dragging on" was fabrication.

Isn't it funny Desire Doue went for £35M, Barcola went for £40M, Kvara £65m etc - but Southampton want £100M for a kid that's looked "promising" in around 10 games.

I think they're the peak signings in terms of age, likelihood of wanting to come here, improving the first XI straight away. These two plus Trafford/Garcia early doors then strengthen the squad with good value squad depth and we'll be able to push on again.

Don't think so. If I'm not imagining it (possible), it was later reported we'd pulled out circa two weeks earlier when the fee hit £55 million. We were allegedly bemused by the reporting from the Palace end.

With Guehi surely the leg work is done. We’ve already spoken to Palace and know the conditions for the player. I’d expect that to get done fairly quickly if he wants the move.  I bet Chelsea come in

I think the difference this year with Guehi is that it’s only 12 months on his contract. Makes it less likely Parish can play similar brinkmanship. Less likely, but still possible.

Fingers crossed, but it begs the question of why haven't going done it if it's true
