And how many times did we drop points or lose for other reasons (didn’t take chances, errors, etc)? A single, slightly more technical winger also isn’t going to magically unlock defenses that sit deep against us. We’re not signing peak De Bruyne. Stottie
13 minutes ago, Checko said: Hope it is. My main assertion is that vs a low block you mainly want wingers to get to the byline and drill it into the box and cause some chaos. A winger (Grealish) pull back instigating chaos is how Man City got that last minute equalizer by Stones after being parked in the 10 man Arsenal box for half the game. That's the most memorable case of attack vs. pure defence I can remember. Man City had 28 shots in the second half. https://www.whoscored.com/matches/1821096/live/england-premier-league-2024-2025-manchester-city-arsenal

Sure we need players who are more comfortable in possession, but we rarely struggle for creativity.
KennyUtd
Can you imagine the fewm on here when we can't break down Sunderland's low block and lose to a break away goal...twice.

Sure we need players who are more comfortable in possession, but we rarely struggle for creativity. We are quite tippy tappy, little triangle-y around the box. Gordon is also good at beating his man or drawing a foul. Maybe a bit more box crashing by our mids, like Sandro for the first against Man U or Chelsea, would help. In that same Man U game, Tino beats his man and overhits his cross, but Murphy reaches it and its Barnes crashing in to finish with Isak on his heels. That kind of multipronged attack gets me all excited! Its on the first Whoscored page, but Isak's 34% of our goals is as high as anyone on the list. Time for the other lads to step up? Sure we need players who are more comfortable in possession, but we rarely struggle for creativity. yeah I don’t know the answer which is why I’m asking; but it seems many are very focused on us specifically finding someone to beat that specific style of defense when we have more or less been excellent with what we have at our disposal and how we’ve been able to maximize players we’ve had in spite of no transfer activity. So I naturally think 1) yes we need more technical ability, who doesn’t love that but 2) how often do we HAVE to break a team down to win a match? And 3) if we just get better players to more effectively execute plan A, then why truly reinvent the wheel?

I don't see many teams going for him after his loan spell which says it all. Best examples I can think of would be Cantona or Dennis Bergkamp who did well over here but that was where they didn't settle in another league or had problems. Add Henrik Laarson (spelling?) to that list.
Ikon
I wonder if we have any interest in Akliouche still (if links were to be believed). Doesn’t seem to be much competition for him at this very moment. Would like to see us take advantage similarly to how we did with Bruno at the time. Would be my choice for RW.
