NUFC Transfer Rumours

I get that, I like that we are trying. Just hope that we aren’t too stubborn if it shows that we aren’t getting deals done. We just cannot be in a position when the window closes and be more or less empty handed. Hopefully things can change, but it must change rather quickly if we are to have any chance of doing enough in this massively important window.

No doubt, we might well have to take a couple of risks and just hope they work out. As you say, CB and CM is essential as well as 2 strikers.

Our scouting team have got to be taking the piss if these Jackson links are accurate. They must do less work than Gillespie.

Don't think its possible, he’ll be paid a fortune and is a completely different profile to anyone else we’ve gone for.

Pretty clear now that we needed a temporary hire like we had in January 2022 to help with this stuff like.

Instead we've got an acting DoF who's a 31 year old stat guy/scout, being supported by an acting assistant DoF who's a Head Scout, and literally no CEO. I don't envy Andy Howe and Steve Nickson at all. It's probably a bit of a miracle that they signed Elanga and it'll be a huge achievement for them if we sign anyone else.

Also confirmation if we needed it that Paul Mitchell is an absolute cunt. Leaving right at the start of a transfer window it was assumed he would be leading, leaving us in the above position. He's been such an unmitigated disaster that it's more like he's been working for the clubs trying to stop us than he was working for us.

Having said that, to allow this situation to happen, with no contingency, no response, no measures put in place is gross negligence by PIF.

So now we've gone into probably the most pivotal transfer window in the club's modern history with no real experience to fall on and no measures taken when it became clear that it's a mess. A complete shambles.

Didn’t the club apparently know at least a month before it was announced that Mitchell was leaving ? Pretty sure that’s Waugh’s take. Mitchell is still a cunt mind.

I'm happy to see the Mitchell was a double agent narrative gain steam. I feel less mental if I'm in a mob.

Never seen that reported but either way we can file it under PIF negligence or Mitchell being a cunt.

All we can hope is that we learn from this transfer window, but I have my doubts we will as this is 2 shambolic summer windows in a row now.

Nothing will change unless we get a CEO and DOF in, plus we need a direct line to PIF.

I mean I watch Jackson and I cannot see the fuss, but given he ended up at Chelsea and other clubs seem to rate him, he must have something about him. If he was to sign I’d be happy to judge after he’s worked with Howe for a bit.

Jackson is a hard working PL based striker who presses. He ticks every box for the manager, our scouting is shite, but make no mistake if he signs it’s Howe’s choice nobody else.

But it sounds like he fits us well…

It needs to be noted that these are two very different windows. Last summer we were out of funds; this summer we've failed to execute, created a mess of our own making, and ran out of ideas (to this point).

We'll have a CEO and SD in for that one.

Interesting to observe the hate for Mitchell.

Seems very possible that what happened was, he came in, saw we needed to adjust our transfer strategy (ie not doggedly go for established/cartel targets only), Eddie wouldn't accept that, so one of them had to go.

For all Eddie's good qualities, you could argue that Mitchell's the one who's been largely vindicated this summer. He's an easy scapegoat sure, but I think the inconvenient truth is that our transfer incompetence is down to more than just one person, who was only here 12 months.

If you lose the ability to be sharp and decisive in the transfer market because a single staff member left, albeit your DOF, you've got deeper issues than you're willing to acknowledge.

I hope to goodness we're not after Jackson. That'd reek of unimaginative target identification, at best. Also don't think he has the temperament or ability to be our lead striker.

Thankfully I'd be surprised if we were after him. Sesko and Wissa would be two good signings in my view, but the odds of getting even one of them I'd put at 50%.
