Guaranteed football but probably a similar season as last year, or move to a better team, maybe not starting as many, but still enough plus Champions League football. Hopefully he picks us.

Reminds of a young Thiago the close control and how he clips a pass with no back lift. Two midfield studs in Bruno and Tonali they should be exploiting that with young players that can learn off them. It's the type of signing that's desperately needed just to give a lift to the place.

We've seen how these things work to our detriment. The agent and player will hold out as long as possible to see who comes to the table. Leeds have been strung along all summer.

 

It'll be interesting to see if we actually make a move though.

Trying not to get too excited because gut feeling says it won't happen. Shame that the fee is high, was kind of hoping it'd be a CM of immediate quality rather than potential.

He's creative, likes hard work, and is positionally versatile. That's basically the Eddie Howe bingo card. It's tempting to keep upgrading positions in the 4-3-3 we play, but in reality we need some degree of flexibility in case Eddie wants to change or we end up changing manager.

El Khannouss doesn't really strike me as Eddie Howe type of player. Especially for a midfielder. He's not tall (5' 11"), he's not a particularly powerful runner or a strong ball retainer and his goal and assists record is very poor (albeit he's mainly played for poor sides). 

 

His only saving grace seems to be a decent ball winner(for an attacking midfielder) and he's still young enough to improve his all round game. 

 

This one doesn't excite me but I can't definitely see the logic in it. He's pretty cheap, he's got some experience of the league and he's a different profile from any of the midfielders we have currently.

I'd like to see a marquee signing come through the door, if it's at all possible.

 

If anyone had said at start of the window that Anthony Elanga would be our "marquee" signing of the summer, I think we'd all be a little bit disappointed tbh.

I think that ship may have sailed. Seems pretty clear from the last weeks worth of rumours that we've set our sights a little lower than we have been doing in the previous 6 weeks.

 

Samu maybe the closest we'd get to a marquee signing now. And even he is still a youngster with a lot of potential but also a lot to prove.

Only watched highlights so I have to take it with a big pinch of salt but I really like the look of him.

 

A really naturally talented footballer who can dribble, has a good range of passing but comes with the added bonus of being a proper grafter. His output wasn't great last season but he was playing attacking mid for a team that scored 33 goals and conceded 88, putting him 3rd in their goals/assisters just by getting 2 goals and 3 assists. Not bad at all for a then 20 year old.

 

It seems that he was easily their POTY last year (despite Vardy officially winning it) and judging by their forum they're gutted to be losing him.

Yep, he's treated at times as the one true authority by Leicester fans.   As for El Khannouss, a lot of us want to hold onto him, which should give an indication of how highly we rate him. Only slight flaw is his end result isn't all that, but we expect him to improve as he matures.  If we were offered either Barnes back or keeping BEK, I'd keep Bilal. His potential is huge.

The 24-year-old is now in the final 24 months of his Villa contract, and despite several offers to extend, no agreement has been reached.

In such circumstances, both parties are open-minded about finding an alternative solution, and that is likely to mean a sale.

This would avoid further limbo, allowing Villa to plan ahead with more clarity and Ramsey the opportunity to achieve greater career stability.

Many suitors have expressed an interest to Ramsey’s camp, but emerging as his preferred destination are Newcastle United.
 

The Tyneside club made an approach for the former England youth international in January 2024, and boss Eddie Howe is a big fan.

Other sides from the Premier League and abroad are also keen, including West Ham United. Their head coach Graham Potter admires Ramsey, and the feeling is mutual.

However, Newcastle’s project and the chance to work under Howe are thought to carry the greatest appeal.

Before opening their seasons in Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off at Villa Park, Newcastle and Villa are starting talks to explore whether a compromise can be reached.

Ramsey is a priority target as Newcastle aim to strengthen in his position — and up front — amid what has been a testing market.

A number of ambitious options have moved elsewhere, but they have landed Anthony Elanga and Aaron Ramsdale, while a deal for Malick Thiaw is close to being completed.

Think I'd prefer Khannouss, he offers something a bit different to what we have. Has a clever pass, a bit of vision.

John Percy won’t be wrong, we could well be doing both.

Seems like we recognize that we need to get one rotation CM in and have a deep target list in the 20m-30m bracket for that position. Don’t know enough about these various options to have specific preferences about who we end up with as long as we end up with someone.

I mean, Eddie Howe and his brand of football certainly has a "type". Just that Ramsey has a reputation for being somehwat injury prone (missed almost all of the season before last, and 10 games last season). Other than that, he fits our system to a T.
