NUFC Transfer Rumours

Until half an hour ago, I hadn't heard of this player. However, after a quick glance through his Wikipedia page and a youtube compilation, I pronounce myself in favour.

He seems to have come good over the last two seasons, and his experience should help. He doesn't look very quick, but he seems strong and can finish with both feet. That'll do me.

Not a fan of any forward who lacks pace.

He was rapid pre injuries. Though take your point that he was still very effective afterwards/towards end of his career.

But not AS effective.

Sheringham too.

Good shout, he was a really good foil for the other forwards and got his fair share of goals too. I guess I'm just used to having all our forwards being quick these days.

Read that as Alan Shearer wasn’t  ‘Alan Shearer effective’. My bad still got stream of heavy rock classics bouncing around my skull—after traumatic trip through Plane Spotting thread—currently Masters of the Universe by Hawkwind (canny tbf…).

And looked cool as fuck smoking a tab. Not quite Steve McQueen cool but pretty fucking cool.

Couldn’t find an image from when he was playing (but apparently he used to try and spark-up on the bus to and from away games…) but this man tops  McQueen (and the Ian Curtis) in the cool smoking images.

I proper loved He-Man and Battle Cat when I was a kid like

Used to bounce around my Nana's tiny little kitchen shouting "By the power of Grayskull! I have the power!" and my Nana would try and dodge out of the way of my plastic sword whilst I pretended she was Skeletor

Mmmm I am thinking you’re a lot younger than your name suggests BD; or there’s a whole load of music out there that could enhance your life.

Already did it, but then the Prem sides bottled it as other leagues didn't follow suit and they didn't want their hand being weakened in trying to move on players.

Couldn’t the Premier league or the English leagues just basically Vann in and out transfers once the season starts? I.e. if you want to do business with an English club, you need to get it done before the  first match of the season? Or is that what you were saying happened? I can’t remember what it was like then.

I'd say I'm properly feeling the jitters today for the first time. Really thought Wissa was going to happen, but that doesn't seem likely now with him in contention for the weekend. I am totally in favour of Jackson now (and quite liked the idea anyway), but if Emery is at the table you imagine we're not in pole position there either.

You do wonder where we can turn to next and my needle is finally flicking towards the 'someone, anyone' side of the meter. I assume it's probably gonna come to that for those internally by September 1st too; Gordon simply can't be first choice CF until January. Panic buy (/loan) territory feels just around the corner.

Would've absolutely loved a striker in for Monday; even if they weren't available to play, just that easing of pressure would help the crowd going into the game. Maybe it'll still happen.

Have to assume we’ve been a little more coy over the last week or so but after the Liverpool game I assume we will pick up the pace. My guess (hope?) is that we have been taking this time to do one final assessment of the market as a whole, looking at different options we might not have originally considered, before really going after it next week. That would make the most sense. We don’t do snap deals so I’m hoping this is the part where we are laying the groundwork.

I'd say the club will hold more sway with a player than the manager. If Jackson likes the idea of playing for Newcastle then he would come here regardless of Emery I would have thought.

Yeah you would really expect us to ramp it up in the next few days, we won't want to go into a season with no available strikers. We'll overpay if we have I would have thought, Brentford and the like are probably counting on it.

We've already done this tbf. As soon as we kicked off the season with Gordon up top last week and failed to score, we added tens of millions on to any striker we're interested in.
