NUFC Transfer Rumours

Recommended Posts

A few tidbits from conversations I had last night that might be of interest.

- yesterday’s meeting between Isak and Reuben / PIF is apparently the third face-to-face one since this all kicked off in July. At each one, the possibility of a new contract with a release clause has been discussed and each time it’s been knocked back.

- the player’s, regardless of towing the party line in public, absolutely want him gone. “Disgusted with him” was a recurring theme. They want him gone asap.

- Strand Larsen and Wissa… the aim is to get both apparently. Not one or the other. Let’s see 🤷‍♂️

- The general feeling was it’s completely untenable to keep Isak… Eddie is not the kind of manager who wants that disruption and those continuous questions and the feeling was Eddie absolutely wants him gone too, but he’s being diplomatic in his answers.

Wissa and larsen is 100m easy so I guess that triggers isak going if thats the case it feels like some downgrade but maybe that's where we have gotten to.

Wissa & Larsen is better than Isak & Wilson/Osula

Neither clearly as good but will jointly cover the goals we lose by selling him. In a way we also get a real target man who is good in the box and a mobile striker who can run in behind.

I think there was a short window of time when Ando did get wind of some info but it was a few years back. Since then, it’s been bullshit of the highest order and pathetic bullshit at that

Was it now the well trodden path of hearing a bit of team news early doors before taking an unsuccessful plunge into transfers?

Poor Will went the same way.

Was going to say, are we really going to spunk all the Isak money on fucking Wissa and Larsen? I like Larsen as a Wilson replacement and I hope we stop there.

We have money for Wilson’s replacement. Any Isak money would be for Isak replacement and left overs I would think.

I hear you 14 and 19 goals last season is better than relying on isak for all the output.

last season wilson is not hard to beat though seen as Wilson got 1 goal last season?

Its better than what we have no doubt but would want us to do better with the money feels like we are being forced into this "needs must " so to speak which i know we kind of are if he's literally rebuffing any chance to give us the season.

I keep telling myself that the team with the best striker doesn't always win the trophies.

Wissa and Larson were something like 33 goals on the PL last season between them. Yes they would see less combined time on the pitch for us but if we could get 2 players combining to be 1 on 3 each it's a better return than one superstar hitting 25 goals.

You're also at lower risk of your strikers being out of form.

Our case is skewed with Wilson contributing nothing last season but as a team I think we'd be better off and also have some cash to get a CM in.

For his career id rather see Isak in Turkey on loan though. Or Saudi, and it's unlikely to be a PIF club now so the plan fee would count to SCR

We should get the next world’s greatest striker from somewhere nobody has heard of for £400k instead.

Its a downgrade on 22-23 Wilson and 24-25 Isak. Its an upgrade on (24-25=last season) Isak and Wilson, and maybe an upgrade on (23-24) Isak and Wilson too.

Wissa and Larsen have done it in weaker teams with no Eddie. Larsen got those goals in a team with fifth fewest shots, not many more than the relegated teams. Cunha also did great for Wolves but noone doubts his quality.

Remember folks, we can always sell them and get someone better if the chance emerges, such as if City's lawyers blow away the APT rules. We are not going to be stuck with any player forever. The real danger is having insufficient strikers and going backwards. We need that CL revenue otherwise its goodbye Tonali goodbye Tino etc., undoing all the good work done so far.

I would like us to have more time (don't laugh) larsen or wissa for Wilson one 26 in Feb other 29 next month both have double figures in the prem sounds great.

Spending most of any profit of isak fee on them as our strikers sounds great short term but we paying premiums so likely paying peak value for both.

It may just be the way it is but would ideally like one and then look to put the isak replacement into a top first choice next summer it appears we aren't getting much choice in the matter if isak is doubling down.

As Craig no Hope has alluded to this is the B or C list striker choice at this point but we are getting quoted top dollar.

I wish there was another choice.

Wow!

Could we handle in a FFP sense, signing both Wissa, JSL, and keeping Isak for this season and sell next summer?

Yes, if we sold him before 30th June but all clubs would know this and would lowball us but it wouldn’t matter if there was a bidding war

I wish there was another choice.

I’d be content with Larsen and maybe another high profile attacking midfielder, maybe Paqueta or the lad from Leicester. In reality it’ll be just the one player in before Monday.
