NUFC Transfer Rumours

A few tidbits from conversations I had last night that might be of interest.

- yesterday’s meeting between Isak and Reuben / PIF is apparently the third face-to-face one since this all kicked off in July. At each one, the possibility of a new contract with a release clause has been discussed and each time it’s been knocked back.

- the player’s, regardless of towing the party line in public, absolutely want him gone. “Disgusted with him” was a recurring theme. They want him gone asap.

- Strand Larsen and Wissa… the aim is to get both apparently. Not one or the other. Let’s see 🤷‍♂️

- The general feeling was it’s completely untenable to keep Isak… Eddie is not the kind of manager who wants that disruption and those continuous questions and the feeling was Eddie absolutely wants him gone too, but he’s being diplomatic in his answers.

Don't think anyone thinks any different, but I hope the higher ups don't think that means we need to sell to Liverpool this summer, because that's also untenable.

Using the Isak money on Wissa and Larsen is terrible business. Can't believe that's the option we have at this stage

If we end up with a summer of the following:

out

Isak £140m

Lonsgstaff £12m

Kelly £20m

Wilson, Hayden, Lewis released

total received: £172m

in

Elanga £50m

Thiaw £30m

Ramsey £41m

Ramsdale loan

JSL £55m

Wissa £40m

total spent: £216m

net spend £44m

Then imo we’ve significantly strengthened the squad for next to no outlay.

I actually think we’d try for another CM too.

It's properly stuck between a rock and a hard place. There are no wins here from our perspective as a result of that cunt's behaviour

Still on a knife-edge of being a sensational or disappointing window with 5 days to go. Potentially:

Elanga

Ramsdale

Ramsey

Thiaw

Wissa

JSL all coming in would be ridiculously good (the Isak situation will resolve itself eventually)

or

Elanga

Ramsdale

Ramsey

Thiaw

no strikers in and Isak refusing to rejoin the squad would be a bit of a disaster.

They sign both strikers then we're fucking cooking. They don't then we're staring down the barrel. This is what it boils down to for me

If we have no other options, overpay for one of either strand-larsen or wissa.

Tell Isak hes going nowhere and call his bluff. I refuse to beleive this cunt is willing to sit out the season. Play the season out with Isak and our new Wilson replacement. Spend the year scouting for a new top #9. Let this cunt leave early in June, and spend on a new high level goal scorer.

If he does sit out, worst case scenario, we make due with Larsen/Wissa and Osula and Gordon until January and re-asses.

But zero chance we take 130 mil from Liverpool (dont forget the sociedad sell on), and then spend 100+ of it on strand-larsen and Wissa.

It would be the biggest statement of surrender and acceptance of "our place" that i could imagine.

95 million on the aforementioned forwards and losing Isak is a kick in the nads, like. But the other signings you mention definitely improve the squad

i don’t see a scenario where Isak ever plays for us again.

Those mid table forwards scored 33 open play goals between them last season playing for average and below average sides.

They’re mid table forwards until they sign for a top 6 team surely? Delap was a relegation team striker. Pedro was a mid table team striker.

You're right like. Harsh comment on my part - just incredibly frustrating to be in this situation by the actions of one shitehawk of a player.

Totally agree. The situation is ridiculous on one part, thanks to Isak and on the other, the clubs part.

Some mental gymnastics going on here a little I think. I get it as it's the only way to cope with a shit situation. But like it or not Isak was a difference maker and was the key to us over achieving and mixing it with the top 5. Unfortunately Wissa and/or Strand-Larsen doesn't do that.

Sure they will help us, but Isak was something different, he was the striker all the teams ahead of us want in their team.

Unfortunately he turned out to be a collosal dick who decided to drop us in the shit rather than giving us time to and secrecy to get our business done in preparation for his eventual move.

Yep, so the club have to deal with it. Magically reversing Isak being a dick isn’t an option.

Don’t want to harp on relentlessly but the fact that we didn’t go extremely hard at getting that second striker in as early as possible when we knew Wilson needed replacing for over a year and Isak wanted out is a disgrace from us. Sure, we went for Delap, Pedro etc but we were never taken seriously at all. We should have had multiple players lined up there and then to go for. As it stands we’re negotiating with two clubs who can’t afford to lose their players. We’re fucking stupid

Let's be honest lads. Strand-Larsen and Wissa are solid PL players...

But if I told you all in June wed be straight swapping Alexander Isak for those 2, the entire board would be on suicide watch.

Yes in the present, it improves our situation significantly. But from a high level, its an absolute disaster.

To go from

-Isak not for sale, looking at Delap/Pedro/Ekitike to play with him

To

Isak can go but only for 150 mil and we need a high level #9 and a Wilson replacement

To

We'll keep Isak and sign a Wilson replacement

To now:

Paying way over the odds for 2 Wilson replacements and letting Isak go...

We'd basically be publicly bullied by Liverpool and a player with 3 YEARS left on his contract to accept a worst case scenario.

It would be such a damning indictment on the clubs image. We hold the cards, and we need to stand firm.

I think if we had a functional transfer team we would have, at the moment it's just cobbled together.

Yet we’d still arguably come out of the other end stronger for it, IMO.

We could at least get JSL straight in the team. Wissa has barely had a pre-season

Good point - also a lot younger. If we get JSL I hope that ends the hunt for Wissa.

That's the mental gymnastics I'm talking about. We are not better off without Isak and with those two instead we just simply aren't. We are better than current us with Isak on strike and no fit forward other than Osula now, but we do t know for certain yet if Isak 100% won't play if the window shuts.

Stand firm and what? Play Osula for weeks until Isak sorts his head out? Then hope the crowd don’t turn on him every time he touches the ball?

Its called a different opinion to yours. Just because someone holds a different opinion to you doesn’t mean they're experiencing mental gymnasts.

I'd put money on it that Isak does in fact play for us again if he's still here when the window shuts.
