Talk of overpaying and citing the Wissa deal, big difference between paying twice what someone's worth and 5m. The fact we not only overpaid for Wissa but overpaid to such a degree but fucked around over 5m for a player who we will book a profit on regardless tells me this club has absolutely no clue. 

I still can't understand how we got Wissa to sign such a contract. The fact that we bought him expensively can be explained to some extent, but the weekly salary he received from Brentford (25k per week) we pay him 140k per week plus a bonus of 35k. How can you do this, let alone against other players.

I think it's unrealistic, only the best players on the team should get paid that much, many of our good players (Hall, Miley, Livramento, Barnes, Osula) get paid much less. The other thing is that when we negotiate with players, we often don't offer nearly that much.

We were fleeced by him and Brentford but as they say. Willing buyer willing seller.

I thought, he should have been happy that NUFC wanted to get him, I think he should have accepted a much smaller weekly salary, for example double his salary there, because we will fail to sell him. Whoever signed this contract is ... That's why I'm afraid of this year's transfer window, because things are not going as they should. When we should hesitate, we sign such contracts at other times, and I still see the same player search mistakes.

No disrespect or insult intended but I suggest you take what footballers say with a pinch of salt. He wanted to come here because we were the only club daft enough to pay the package.

Yes, you are right. Miley's attitude shows that she loves this club, we need more Miley.

I have generally been very supportive of PIF because I still think they are our best chance of becoming a successful football club, but on this I absolutely agree. 

 

We need someone at the business end who is invested and can make things happen. How come Edwards and Iraola can act so fast and swoop in to take our signings while at our end we seem to be haggling over contractual minutae? From the outside it seems like PIF haven't delegated enough power to the DOF to make things happen.

I’m not sure how we stop leaks from the player side. Muñoz and agent were clearly very keen for it to all be out there.

don’t need to tell anyone our moves anymore. Should stay within the deal team. Don’t allow it to leak. Deny everything that comes our way from press questions.  
 

I have no problem with a slow rebuild of the team in terms of our performances on the pitch, but I assume many of us were assuming and expecting a different approach this summer. ID and line up talent who want to be here - pay the release clauses or club valuations quickly and quietly. Methodical, calculated and move on to the other targets. The fans need to see that as much as the players we have on our books we want to keep.
