NUFC Transfer Rumours

Recommended Posts

Is there a world where we have just been unlucky with this Muñoz deal and it’s made worse by last summer and the feeling around that? Bearing in mind none of the current executive structure were employed by the club last summer.   It looks terrible but it could just be a bit of an unlucky situation and things aren’t as nearly as bad as being made out. Time will tell but we do need to see some movement before the month is out

I think we need at least one in before Tonali goes, not to mention Tino and Hall.

Guesswork but I think Tino and Hall will both stay. Agree we need something positive, the whole feeling around the club is negative at the minute including the new kit debacle

I hope so, I just hope these rumours of Hall falling out with Eddie are untrue

Imagine the rhetoric posted by any and all media though, would have become extremely toxic

“Saudis show true colours as they hold Isak prisoner.”

Would have been a relentless media attack on us and about how players shouldn’t come here because we’ll ruin their careers. Looking back, we didn’t have a single good option last summer. We fucked it by letting it drag on to the last second, and fucked it by not having alternative players lined up that we didn’t pay massively over the odds for. However, with Isak himself and him going there were absolutely no viable options because of how much of a horrific cunt he was

Its a fair point.

Had we signed 2 strikers that had worked out, nobody would have any issues with how we handled the Isak saga.

My thoughts have always ended up in the same place. Selling players isnt really an issue, its who we sign that will determine our success.

We wait with baited breath.

To the top players yes. For players who are not established stars, we should be able to offer a first team place where they can't.

I am surprised that we couldn't sell that pitch to Munoz, but I guess Liverpool must have convinced him that he was going straight into their first team.

I think we need to do a better job here.

Out of interest what do we need to do better?

I agree we don't have deep enough pockets or sufficient clout to be going toe to toe with Europe's biggest clubs for signings.

Last summer, I was in the camp that we've always been good at exploiting market opportunities or targeting players before they become household names and we should go back to that model.

It seems we've done that with Munoz and still been stitched up by an an agent and one of the cartel. If it becomes a trend again this summer, I'll worry, but we still need to give Wilson the benefit of doubt at this point.

I think we need to be tougher with agents and put down conditions as soon as we lay out our offer. Give them a good offer, tell them you have a deadline of so many days to accept it or we assume you aren't serious and withdraw the offer.

I'm no expert at this stuff so don't know how realistic it is, but something along those lines to sift out those trying to start an auction for the highest bidder.

Nobody is signing Tino like. His stock is so low. At this rate he might be forced to sign a new contract because of his injury record.

Ah, ‘the Botman’.

Problem for us is I don't think Botman ever refused to renew

We kinda have to peddle Tino regardless because if he wants to talk now you know he's just a money grabbing cunt

How much money do we actually have to spend this summer ?

I read somewhere we are on the naughty step with UEFA as we breached their SCR.  Meaning we’ve agreed that all ins will be balanced out with outs so no overspend. And we wil adhere to 70% of spend in line with turnover despite being out of Europe.
Think Villa have been through the same. In a nutshell we can only spend what we bring in, means these sales are essential If we want to do anything at all.

Does that include amortisation or we bring in £170m so we’ve only got £170m to spend. If the latter is the case we aren’t getting anywhere near enough done

I do remember there were reports that we want to extend Botmans contract nearly one year before he signed it, but no news till he’s back from the serious injury and looked like a shadow of himself

Incoming fees are amortised now I believe.

Pretty much fucked ourselves last summer plus the fact we didn’t get European football. Maybe we can spend a bit of the money we raise from outgoings? I don’t think it’s as much as what people would like to think personally.

We sold Isak and Longstaff for almost 1.5b last summer.
