NUFC Transfer Rumours

I just hope we don’t go anywhere near Elanga. He’s the same level as Miggy and Murphy and would not be an upgrade.

Even during this great run for Forest, he’s on 0 goals and 1 assist in 10 games.

Yeah, I can’t see this happening.

Interesting to see what people think of the RW issue now that we want Joe and Joe on the left.

Guess different for different games?

It does change the picture slightly, but I don't think we're able to rely upon Willock playing out the rest of the season as it stands.  If we lose him again, we're probably back to square one.

An interesting idea is whether Gordon could play his role in CM at a push... They're not that dramatically different as players.

One thing I do think is this has been a very bad week for Harvey Barnes. It's becoming harder and harder for him to find his spot in the first XI, which I'm sure is where he wants to be.

What do people feel regarding us going for proven quality or slightly less proven but massive potential? (In January)

Personally i think I’ve changed my mind slightly regarding this. I mean I don’t want us to go for players that won’t be ready to challenge for a place, like 17-18 year olds. But at the same time I’m not sure if it’s worth going for the likes of Semenyo, Guehi and Mbeumo for say £50+ million.

Obviously not against it but maybe we can find something very very good in between for say 30-40m and maybe get two in. Players that will improve us but most importantly grow during the season. Say aged 19-22 or thereabouts .

Whatever they go for I hope it’s players with very high technical ability. I’m all for whatever category/profile we go for tbh. I’ve never really wanted or demanded that we go for 50-60m players. I’d be very happy if we could be like say Dortmund for example. The rest will take care of itself within time.

Either can work. If we see Guehi as the long term successor to Schar then he’s worth a big fee. Same with another similar player.

We cant do that in every position of course, and we would always need cheaper players coming through too.

Either way we shouldn’t really judge a signing on whether it’s expensive or cheap - it depends on the purpose of the signing.

Most definitely both can work. I’m all for it. Just that I’m more open to thinking more long term now I guess. Especially when you consider the “lack” of RW that can go straight in and be mega good without costing 60m or whatever.

I genuinely don’t think WE can get Guehi for cheap. Some other club might get him for a more reasonable price though. Most importantly I hope we don’t waste time on him.

Tino - Guehi - Botman - Hall would be as good a back four as I've seen for Newcastle

given it would cost about £180m you'd bloody hope so mind

I think Barnes will go at the end of the season

Callum Hudson-Odoi is by far the better more talented player

He plays LW though so not needed

Saw clips of Mason Greenwood on the weekend, he's killing it in France. Plays that RW position, where he comes inside and shoots.
Does he have too much baggage / is he good enough for our RW?

Someone should kill him in France.

I dont think his brand would allow him back in the Premier League.

Barnes is a great asset for the team, but yes increasingly difficult to justify having 3 options at LW and none at RW. It’s a bit of a depressing sign of how FFP constricts everything if he goes, as Chelsea have about 12 RWs and NUFC can’t afford to have a single spot on the team with genuine top level competition

Howe seems to have gone totally off Miggy so he’s a goner.

I think people need to set reasonable expectations for January. It’s a better time to buy potential (as those players are less likely to be integral parts of competitive teams). There are exceptions, but I’m not sure if a RW of sufficient quality will be available
