NUFC Transfer Rumours

FWIW I don't see us getting David in, even for free, surely he'd realise he's not taking Isak spot in the team so he'd not be playing every week.

I thought if David come in he could play the Joshua King role off just behind Isak who is the Wilson

so something like

Bruno Tonali

RW David Gordon

Isak

Howe confirmed yesterday we’ll be taking a risk with outgoing transfers and no incomings (due to June PSR deadline) so I presume we’ll be hoping Wilson can play a part in the second half of this season and hope we can cope until Barnes is back fit.

Yeah seems so. Wilson is aiming for end of the month/early Feb but god knows whether he can get/stay fit. The irony is if he can stay fit he’ll probably help secure champions league. The flip side is it’ll only take a few injuries and we’re bang in trouble.

Yeah I know he has played as a CAM/Second Striker a fair bit so far in his career but that relies on Howe changing a formation he's had basically the entire time he's been here. Not saying it's impossible just that I don't see it happening personally. But having said that, he's free, so if Howe/Mitchell can convince him to come here and shows him how he would fit into the team then I'm all for it definitely.

I watched him closely against Villa away earlier in the season

He was excellent.

i have never been his biggest fan but watching that game showed me he is a very good player if integrated into a proper team structure that create chances.

He made 4 or 5 excellent runs , great in the air , hold up play was superb and ver strong , he scored too

I just think he lacks confidence at times with Everton

Almost unfair to judge forwards playing in teams that aren't proficient at getting the ball consisntently into the final 3rd for a sustained period of time. Even Isak looked poor and out of sorts in the earlier parts of this season when we weren't getting the ball to him in the right areas or at all.

He physically has every component you'd want from a striker, he's technically very good, he offers something tactically different to Isak and would be happy being number 2 whilst coming in on a lower financial package that would perhaps help us invest elsewhere.

I'd have no issue getting DCL.

Yeah he was very good in that game, did miss a couple very good chances from memory. Hold up play and movement excellent.

We need a CF who knows they’ll be 2nd choice. DCL would likely accept this but if he can stay fit he is a good CF. I’d be more than happy with him, Osula and Isak. That might change but as a strike group it looks pretty good. Much will depend on Osula’s progress.

DCL also has a future transfer fee. 4 year deal, does well as a back up for 2 seasons, a newly promoted club would be delighted to have him for a low fee (£10m+).

There’s many pros to the deal and if club are still keen, I’d assume they’re fully confident he’s a good guy who will be great for the dressing room.

Think I’d rather just play Osula than buy DCL.

Eddie wouldn't though, Osula only gets on the pitch for the last 10 mins if the game is already won. If Isak gets injured, the reality is it would be Gordon up front. How would you feel about that?

Calvert-Lewin's a big handsome bastard which I think is being underplayed here. Wilson going drops us a few points and Big Dom's the perfect replacement.

Fashionable as well.

If he comes on a free, replacing Wilson. Fine by me. Nobody really has senior backup strikers these days; offers us something different too. Cool by me. I trust Eddie and Mitch.

I’ve always been very opposed to DCL, but if funds are limited, he’s available on a free, and it frees up money for first team positions and possibly a big juicy purple RW, then I can’t really complain.

That was probably his best game all season. Wouldn't judge a player based on their single best game in a season. Any player can have a game like that.

We have had a great 5 weeks but squad are tired..Fringe players not getting gametime ( Almiron, Longstaff, Kelly) to be moved on and bring in hungry players and freshen things up a bit

Pace at the back please, if today's game showed us anything it’s how one paced much of our team is outside of Tonali and the front 3

Its imperative we sign an athletic partner for Botman he needs to be the total package which is a big ask.
