NUFC Transfer Rumours

Without sounding to much like a fanny, I think we are taking a big gamble if  we don't bring a player in that improves the squad, if we fall away and don't qualify for Europe we ate going to have a job on our hands keeping a hold of our top players.

And I for one can't bare the thought of any of them player for the Sky6, we are in an amazing position right now, we need to build on it, not consolidate.

I’d be more concerned if the likes of Bournemouth or Forest had strengthened and we hadn’t (they still might yet). As it stands though, squad wise I don’t think we are any worse off than any of our rivals (I’m not considering Chelsea or City rivals). Only villa have signed someone, but I’m not sure he strengthens them that massively.

Could be Wilson's replacement? A nice young CF to support Isak. Osula out on loan. I'd be very happy with that.

Wasn't that the exact point of Osula...a young CF to support Isak?

"We tried"

It doesn’t really fit this time though. Seems like Mitchel and whoever else is involved is genuinely trying to offload squad players.

“We tried” was putting a £20m bid in for Berahino or whatever he was called on the day of the window. Plus many other low ball bid examples.

I think Osula was bought as a 3rd forward who would have a year to develop behind Isak and Wilson. However due to Wilson always being injured, he is the 2nd striker but is not developed enough for Howe to be given meaningful minutes to, hence why Gordon is preferred in that role.

I think the next CF we bring will be young but more experienced than Osula. For example played in European competitions or over 50 games in top division

It's posted all the time despite not being remotely applicable.

Yes but I think he was intended to be 3rd behind Wilson. That said, I would rather play him than sign someone else of a similar profile.

Yes. Chiming in with an oldie. Things are entirely different now.

our players tend to develop better working with eddie for a year rather than going out on loan.

Thought he got brought in because of Wilson not been fit for seasons start. That's why I initially thought he'd of getting more minutes on the pitch than he has.

A decent signing now, RW or another striker, could be the difference between winning a trophy and finishing top 4/5 or not. If we wait until the summer we're starting all over again. I just want nice things. Why can't we have nice things.

Sobbing here.

Exactly..the impact Cisse had in 2012..Would we have got 5th without Cisse?.. in 2001 Bellamy & Robert signings transformed us from been a  Mid table team to a Top 4 team

I think it’s abundantly clear that we cannot, under the current regulations like them or lump them, afford to strengthen the first team.

I’m a bit surprised at the lack or (reported) signings for the academy though I must say. I imagined that might have been a priority considering the previous point and the fact that building up the academy is critical to any future success we may have.

I still remember being on this very forum (ok the "old" version) when we signed Cisse. It was on the rumours page, and just matter-of-fact, somebody (perhaps one of the Spurs fans) just piped up with "I see you lot have signed Cisse from Freiburg". Ah those good old days.

I look at several NUFC pages on FB but they're all wild and spurious claims. But as ever, I come here for your collective knowledge, experience and football savvy.

But fuck it, I'll settle for wild and spurious right now!
