ponsaelius
Don't vibe with Wissa signing personally and think it's likely to cost us too much to be worth going for. Could see it dragging on as well given the age and price demands.

That would be the perfect price. It's also hugely below what he's worth. If I were a Brentford fan and we sold the player who scored 31 goals in the last two seasons for £35M I'd be fucking rioting. If we can get him somewhere between £50M and £40M, preferably under £45M that's fine. He's worth a four year deal at that price, no doubt about it. SUPERTOON
It would be massive change in strategy signing Wissa mind, and a complete change of direction in profile as well.
SUPERTOON
At least it seems we are trying to move qucily after the Ekitike set back.
Optimistic Nut
Wonder if "getting our business done early" included getting our bids in for our first choices to force the clubs with more money's hands (Man U/Cunha, Chelsea/Pedro, Liverpool/Ekitike)? Frustrating but still leaves plenty of time and we'll no doubt have great options lined up.

Not to get ahead of myself but it would align with exactly what id expect to a degree. Manager led transfers will generally lead to a more short term focus which is entirely understandable. Aye, tend to agree with this. Whatever we're doing, we could do with getting a move on.
Fenham Mag
One question we need to ask, is Wissa interested in the Newcastle project?
HayDen Traces
Wissa at £40m is decent value if he repeats last seasons form
ponsaelius
He's just not worth that much in a PSR world IMO, regardless of his goal record. At the end of a 4 year deal his value is approaching nil ala Callum Wilson. Our entire model has been targeting 20-24 so their value goes up and holds for when it comes to renewal or sale. Wissa isn't the typical striker, he is capable both out wide and in a more playmaker style role with his ball-carrying abilities. He's a lot more versatile and dynamic than Sesko or Ramos. Hmmm. Maybe. Think Wissa is more of a striker/left winger though. Not really a playmaker in the Pedro and Ekitike mould.

When we think about "resale value" obviously £40m+ for a 28/29 year old isn't going to offer much of that, but perhaps we think there are enough players in the squad now with resale value (and more arrivals still to come) that we don't need to think about resale value for every signing? In isolation, a striker with 31 PL goals in the last two seasons would be a more than adequate backup/support to Isak

Even if you look back at Wilson, one of the biggest mistakes we've made is not trying to flog him when we could have. For me it's simple we have to buy players who can appreciate in value and it should be none negotiable at this stage. One of the issues we have is all of that first tranche of players Bruno aside are practically worthless.

SUPERTOON
With the attempted signings/interest in Cunha, Pedro and Ekitike i assumed a formation change was coming. Wissa would probably mean more of the same.
