People need to forget Wissa, don’t waste your mental energy on a non-existent transfer. Switch off for now and get ready for Friday PM news.

People need to switch off until the end of August. It sends some owa the edge

Hoping that since all news says we haven’t gone back for Etitike after first bid Monday was rejected, we’ve spent rest of this week so far going after someone else and get a break out story by tomorrow evening of who we have agreed a deal with.

It certainly seems to get some people really down missing out on players. If it got to me that much, I'd for sure just check back in at the end of August.

I find all of the transfer manoeuvring really interesting though, and I feel confident we'll get in what we need at the end.

It's far better than the silence during the Mike Ashley years throughout the window, with the confirmation on the morning of deadline day that we were closed for business!

Was the absolute worst.

Don’t forget the odd depressing loan approach before closed for business :D

If we're looking at Brentford I think Schade could be a good pick up

Not a bad shout. Been improving this season and is versatile, but I cant see Brentford letting him go at all.

Thought Wissa would be a great signing before the Ekitike stuff.

30-40m outlay isn't terrible, he works in this league, can play across the front and as a 10. g

Good chance we could recoup lots of the fee back in a couple of years from Saudi. Also would imagine this means we push hard for a bigger CB target or outlay on another CM.

On the downside, he is at his peak and more than Ekitike smells more like we are being used on this one to bait Manure into paying more for Mbeumo. Everyone including BBC is running on us being into him though. AFCON is the worst too.

Decent article about his partnership with Mbeumo

Elanga can cover for Isak and has numerous starts at the position. Let's get a RCB and Trafford.  Can't wait to watch the new starting 11 in action.

Why not sign a striker? Trafford and CB wont blow our budget.

Could be wrong, but get the feeling he's one of many names we've put the feelers out for.

Aye, just can't see it- different profile, older, big price tag and competition from other clubs. Just can't see it happening.

I think Wissa is a decoy because we need to reduce the squad's age, the pricetag is too much and he's off to AFCON for a bit.

Think he's really good - been writing about him loads at work over the last year - but not the one we should be after.

The Wissa resale value thing is being overdone a bit in these dumbass PSR days.  If we get him for £35m on a 4 year contract we can sell him for £8.75m after his third year to break even on PSR.  Anything over that is profit.

Dunno how this would work with the UEFA regs but it's not like we're just setting a big pile of cash on fire.

I used to hate the transfer window and envy other clubs when Ashley was in charge. Now I still hate the transfer window because it’s exhausting and tedious and still here envying other clubs…tho not as much

Yeah but he's still cost us £26.25m that we've had to fund from somewhere else. We'd only be breaking even on PSR for that last year, we'd have lost £8.75m each of the previous 3 years which has to come from somewhere.

People still think we do smokescreens/decoys?

Sometimes yes sometimes no. At this point it seems like the only responsible thing to do, the moment our true intentions are known one of the big 6 swoops in. Have to say, Wissa doesn't feel right to me in terms of him being a target and him wanting to come.
