J7
Howe was talking about Ramsey as our player before the game on TNT. He explained what he will add to the squad.

Emotic
This is an interesting set of stats, after doing some Dennis Wise scouting of Goncalo Ramos. Ramos has an approximate goal conversion rate of 17% playing in a dominant PSG team. In the premier league, the top shots-to-goal ratio striker is.....wor own Chrissy Wood with more than a quarter of his shots resulting in a goal. Fifth is Yoane Wissa with 21.1%, ahead of Isak (who sits in 11th place with 20%). But second behind Wood, with a frankly very impressive 25.9%, is.....Jorgen Strand Larsen. https://www.statmuse.com/fc/ask?q=best+conversion+rate+premier+league+strikers+2024-
Emotic
Juxtapose the above with this other set of stats - "Most chances created by Premier League teams in 2024/2025". https://www.statmuse.com/fc/ask?q=most+chances+created+by+team+in+the+premier+league+24%2F25 Newcastle is surprisingly, in 8th place - behind even Manchester United; Fulham and Bournemouth. Which indicates (roughly), that our players did really well in converting the chances created - Barnes, and Murphy behind Isak etc. Brentford (with Wissa) are in 15th. Right below them is Wolves (with Strand Larsen) in 16th. Indicating that these two players are really clinical in making hay out of the not-many chances created for them (just two and three places above the relegated teams). Verdict - if we sell Isak (or not) - a front two/rotation of Wissa and Strand Larsen will get us goals (statistically speaking) - provided they get chances. Wissa, Strand Larsen, and a Maddison-type midfielder and we're cooking with gas.

You still don't seem to understand the manager's philosophy and keep wanting him to bring in players that he doesn't prioritise. It's like complaining about Pep not playing with more directness and urgency and not signing more box to box ball carrying midfielders. You're really going to have to get over it at some point. gbandit
Think it might be my last post on the matter as I know it’s not happening now but Dibling is going to develop into a 10, I’m sure of it and would be such a sensible pick up

Yeah, mainly signals that Willock is pretty much done, and is no longer seen as a reliable contributor. Ramsey pretty much takes Willock's spot as an option in the LCM position and Frattesi looks like he mostly plays in the RCM position and so likely rotates with Bruno if he comes in. Would be very good midfield depth if true.

I do, and I appreciate that we are consistent to a fault with "the system" which has worked very well for us. But a tiny bit of adaptability won't be amiss. There are a few players out there who could be the best of both worlds, if we're not keen on a pure Rayan Cherki type. Paqueta (I know, I have to get over him ), for one. And it's hard to argue with the man considering how much success he's had with his approach. I think Howe's thinking is to further improve his way of playing and get in more options to rotate into the team so we can maintain a higher intensity and level of performance over the season. Mazzy
Would be a decent alternative to Bruno. He's got a goal in him as well. Still very confused about how these next two weeks of the window are going to go. I thought I knew (Isak out, Wissa and one more ST in). But that doesn't seem to be the case, looks like it mmcould easily be busier than that. At least I hope so.

gbandit
I know Willock is injured but that wouldn’t completely rule out him being sold this window. I wonder if we’re trying to work on him going out

Basically with Ramsey and now Frattesi (if rumours are to be believed), the plan is to get energetic mezzala-types who can crash the box and twat the ball to get goals, rather than anything fancy. Both of these are exactly in that mould. And Scott McTominay, to whom we were strongly linked, is the best example of the type.

Would be very good midfield depth if true. My thoughts too, after all it is two years now of Willock either being injured or struggling to contribute to the team when fit. The reality is when he was consistently in the first team in 22/23 he was in the left forward position (Dovetailing with big Joe I know) and his output wasn't sufficient to hold down that position. I think he needs a move to somewhere he's a better fit and will play consistently, given it seems to take him a good run of games to find his rhythm, something he's not going to get here being 5th or 6th choice
Barnes23
I think another incoming midfielder might be more likely to signal a loan for Miley. Pretty sure we would consider selling Willock though if there was interest
Scoot
I'd be surprised if anyone would pay money for Willock at the minute. If anyone comes in for him surely it'll be a loan with obligation to buy after x amount of appearances. His injury record is shocking.
Menace
Willock has Fulham all over him. Shame they're absolutely broke cause I don't see anyone else in the Prem paying money for him personally.

But it feels like he's a better fit to our team than Willock already
