If we sold him to Liverpool this summer we'd be in uncharted territory, but the precedent it sets is so clear that I would think it's a big part of the reason clubs tend not to cave. Mascherano refused to play for Liverpool to force them to sell him to Barcelona, Sterling did the same to Liverpool to go to Man City. The best one was when William Gallas refused to play for Chelsea and said if he did he would score own goals, and demanded he was allowed to join Arsenal, which he did. It seems worse that this is us, but I think we have a lot of sympathy from the non-Liverpool fans and people in football, but as long as he isn’t sold under value then I don’t think it will make much difference to us going forward. Emotic
Even if PSG wanted to move Ramos on, it’s now more logical for Liverpool to sign him, rather than us, tbf. He’s not going to cost them as much as Isak; they don’t really have issues in the striking department; their brand is more attractive to a player from PSG; they can certainly afford his wedge etc etc. Silver lining is that this means Isak’s leverage suddenly falls away. If you were a Liverpool fan after tonight’s match, and were offered Ramos or Isak, the votes will likely lean towards Ramos.
Kanj
Nah it’ll be better if we jsut sign Ramos and keep / reintegrate isak and absolutely barnstorm this fucking league.

You don't think there has been a case as bad as this one? What's so special about it? The reason it's hard to find examples is because it's not really a thing that happens. And if there for some reason is different in our case and a "precedent" is set, we can simply just break it the next time when we are in a much better position. So I really don't think it's a good arguement for not selling him. It's only about pride tbh and not some future practical outcome if you are honest to yourself. Emotic
Hope "Suds" will recommend Samardzic from his old club. We've got cover for Big Joe on the left in Ramsey, and Miley can cover for Sandro. Samardzic is big, pressy and creative and will be a solid backup for Wor Bruno. Not sure whether a) he's still on loan from Udinese; and b) has Serbian gangsters for agents though. Lush Vlad
No thread is safe from the Matt Targett bullshit wages chat It’s been done to death on here and people still bring it up all the while. Capology seems a terrible source. The way they confirm their sources and the salaries means they can almost make it up if they want.

His goals per game ratio is much better than Isaks before he he joined the premier league. Id argue that Ramos could actually be a much better goal scorer in an Eddie Howe system. He’d have a lot more caps for Portugal if they weren’t just a Cristiano Ronaldo tribute act. He links up well, can finish and can play the pressing game. It’s hardly a square peg in a round hole. And who knows how good he would look in our system. Sometimes the added lustre of being relied upon, your team playing to your strengths is all it needs for a striker to pop out of the pack of journeymen to position of master, e.g. someone who gets 4 goals in 35 games for one team and 34 in 67 for another finishing joint second top scorer in probably the toughest league in the world (yes I do mean Chris Wood). It's not an argument for not selling him. I want him gone. It's an argument for not selling him not on our terms - specifically to Liverpool specifically now when we're rummaging around for a replacement. Any variation on it and my stance is very different. Eg selling to PSG now, or selling to anyone next summer when we have a DoF in place and have sorted out a replacement. Would rather it not happen again than have to not cave when it happens again, but each to their own. Edited August 16, 2025 by Kid Icarus
