Tremendous false economy saving 20 million on a bloke who has the attention span of a pea, this Gio looks like he has cat like reflexes and real presence.

Cant underestimate the value of a top keeper well worth the investment.

Having a quality keeper is huge - even having Pope at the weekend felt groundbreaking - this guy is a class above

Monday night was True Faith's annual live podcast where fans can come and sit in on a chat between the True Faith guys and several journalists who cover Newcastle United.

The event is a retrospective looking at the season just gone as well as thoughts on the direction for the future.

The Telegraph's Luke Edwards was on the panel and he said that he's aware that England international Jarrod Bowen is keen to join Newcastle.

Never wanted him to be so right!

Bowen may want too, but no chance we can afford him.

I was there, I don’t remember him saying Bowen was keen to join us, but he did say Danny Dyer had told him we’d been in touch. He told the story in a light hearted way and didn’t exactly say this is comprehensive prediction. He did just say this is “my curveball” for the summer window and that he’d be ideal for us.

Well that’s surprising. Thought with his family links and recent success he was unlikely to leave. If true, he’d be a real asset right across the front.

Hoping Mamardashvili will be our Ederson/Allison

Transformative, RW, back up striker and Kelly/Tosin and some prospects!

He’s got to be number 1, if you’re spending that much on a GK. Maybe Eddie saw enough of a drop off with Dubravka playing that he thought we couldn’t go through that again, and a good backup who doesn’t drastically alter our style because he is deficient is a must.

No chance for Bowen. Absolutely no chance we pay West Ham sort of money they ask for.
Same goes for Sesko, Olise and Raphinha.

Olise has a release clause below 60 million.

Anyone who’s seen that Mamardashvili play, what’s he like ?

Absolutely fooking class. Would argue his passing is a weakness.

Obviously not happening, but would Bowens versatility basically mean we get our RW and striker in one go?

Thats pretty much what Edwards was suggesting

is this Valencia guy any good with his feet?

watched a couple of mins on YouTube and it was mostly comfortable shot stopping

I really like Pope but his kicking is really unfuriating when he just gives the ball back to the opposition and invites more pressure

He’s rather good - style similar to Buffon/Toldo

Happy to have him if he is the goalkeeper who is comfortable with his feet that will take us to the next level. Those top keepers are rare and cost a premium. If he is that good and we sign him, that's our goalkeeper sorted for the next decade or so.
