Makes me wonder why did we not try him as a striker instead of wasting our time putting Gordon there when we had no one

I’ve said this for ages. He’s a great finisher.

To think some people wanted shot of him not too long ago.

Those people have moved onto Botman/Gordon etc lately.

Wonder who's going to be next...

It’s really not difficult, he’s a wide player who scores goals because that’s what he does. He just knows where he should be and he’s a natural finisher. I’d prefer him on the left but if he’s allowed to drift from the right and follow his instincts, so be it.

The boy scores goals, it’s the hardest thing to do, he should be one of the 1st names on the sheet. I’d add that I don’t think he could ever fill in even as a make shift CF; he doesn’t have the presence to do that. He knows what he’s good at.

Gordon has been poor for a long time. I completely understand why anyone would want us to cash in before his stock falls further.

So far this season: 16 starts, 14 sub appearances (roughly 1600 minutes of playing time); 11 goals. A goal every 145 minutes or so.

An absolutely class return for a non-penalty taking wide player.

Glad to see him flying at the moment as I've always been a defender of Barnes even during his rough spells, he's always reminded me of Laurent Robert in that he can do absolutely nowt then just win you the match. Such a clutch player.

Honestly think he's miles better than Gordon, just obviously nowhere near as good as marketing himself. Probably my favourite player in the squad tbh.

I think he has improved his play outside of just running in behind, shooting and crossing whenever he gets a chance.

His hold up play was good at times, he was showing the odd bit of skill, tracked back, played first time crosses from the right and decent little lay offs.

He just always seems to be involved in some way with the chances we have. I think he’s actually got better this season.

He’s risen to the challenge when joining us.  Could’ve sulked off but he’s worked hard and taken his opportunities. It takes some mentality to play pretty well, get dropped and still come off the bench to deliver time and again.

At Leicester I think he’s was accused of sometimes being lazy. But he’s a grafter here.

He’s a legend to me already and I was very much nonchalant about his signing.

He reminds me a bit of that cunt Poyet.

For his position he has uncharacteristic quality end product.  It’s so often the difference at the elite level.

Gus wasn't it? 😂

It'll be for Gordon's press that's the only reason for me.

Play him on the right then if that's the only reason he's there. I really like Gordon but he's no undroppable purely based on his pressing, especially as our pressing this season is far below what it has been in previous seasons.

Gun gun gun.

Love him.

Build the team around him, Tonali and Bruno G as the senior players, and Hall / Thiaw / Tino / Miley / Wolte as the younger group.

We should be very open to offers for Gordon.

Absolute travesty if this lad doesn’t go to the World Cup.

He will do. Would start every game for Scotland with their chronic lack of wingers. Even if England called him up he’d not get many minutes. Would get to play against Brazil too.

You can see in the way he carries himself that he's buzzing, atm.

Started to also notice he doesn't really get rattled as easily as some?

Remember when he signed, a lot were more worried about his goal celebration, than anything else  Like, if he does it...it means he's scored, right? He could whip his left bollock out, for all I care

I've been pretty vocal on here about how important he is to us and how he has played this year, and it's really good that he has hit another purple patch of form. He's just a quality player and give him a chance nine times out of 10 he will finish. He should be above Gordon in the pecking order at the moment by a fair distance.

He has scored quite a few braces for us now, hasn't he?  I think it is 4 already this season.  Plus Man U last season, West Ham the season before off the top of my head and probably another one I've missed.

Looking forward to him bagging a hat trick.  Tomorrow night would be a good time to get one.

It'll never sit right with me that this lad is either benched or shoved to the right in huge games like this one to make room for Gordon. Yet again looked by far our best attacking player when he moved to the left.
