TBH not many players would have scored that goal. Needs a great touch, decisive and deceptive movement with explosive pace and a finish on his left foot. Really top goal.

I liked the signing but he's gone to a level higher recently.

It’s funny because I was thinking how he hadn’t been in the game at all and then seconds later he popped up and did that.

He’s one of a few players that can change a game in an instant, he must be the first name on the teamsheet imo.

Would get in England ahead of Gordon for me...

Yep, Tuchel needs to ring him before Steve Clarke does. Do the old Keegan speaking to Shearer before Taggart did trick on him 😅

He's not quick, but he is quick, somehow.  He won't beat many full backs in a foot race down the line and even when he's played in behind.  It is more about the intelligence and the timing of the run than raw pace.  He's possibly even our 'slowest' winger in terms of sprinting speed over 20 yards or more.  It's more in tight spaces and when it is congested he can come into his own.

I think it's his ability to shift the ball and get plenty of quick touches in to then fashion an opening for a pass, cross or shot is criminally underrated.  At least it has been by me, anyway.  He's really good from a standing start at just changing direction or finding an angle to move the ball.

Much better feet and skill than I think I realised.  That or it is something he has worked on as a player.  As it used to feel like he was just a poacher that played wide who was lethal at finishing.  But his all round game is much better than that.

His body movement is great and so is his acceleration, and he's able to take the ball with him as well. Very hard to play against.

Actually feel like Bobb has similar deceptive body movement and ability to beat someone with a short burst of speed.

Not sure poacher was ever the right word for him, maybe just a very efficient shooter.

yeah, his pace is enigmatic isn’t it. A lot of the time he doesn’t look fast enough to be a PL winger but I don’t think anyone else in our squad would’ve moved as quickly and efficiently as he did for his goal last night, where he looked rapid and really strong too?

Sometimes I wish he had a bit more ego because he’d probably be in the England squad by now if he was bugging himself up more.

Loved it when we signed him instead of Maddisson, who some wanted purely because of his directness and finsihing while he was at Leicester. He always wants to bring the ball forward and would probably have a pop at goal when within decent distance and angle when some would pass it instead.

I remember there was a stat revealed a year or two ago that suggested he was the fastest player at the club, based on some kind of training ground test. Obviously this was before Elanga arrived.

Not sure how true it was at the time but I think its because he's not really a dribbler so it's not as apparent as much in game but in terms of raw running speed, I think he is up there when he gets going.

My Leicester supporting mate was always adamant Barnes would be better and more productive for us.

I know Maddison has had his injury problems.  But he wasn't wrong there!

I wonder if it was some sort of shuttle run or an American Football style 3 cone drill.  As I could totally see that.  Accelerating, changes of direction, gearing down and then going again.

Pointless having a shit load of torque and speed if you don't have the wheels to control it.

Yes I was always good at shuttles and the 3 cone.  Can you tell?

The best thing I can say about him. Is you knew it was a goal once he worked that space in the box. He really does just tend to score worldies or clinical finishes.

When it’s a tap in or an open goal. He usually misses

Disagree with the last part. Yes he has missed a chance or two occasionally, even Isak and Shearer would miss the odd sitter once and awhile.

But I agree with knowing he's gonna score before he scores most of the time.

Never get that same feeling with our other forwards.

For example there was a moment Gordon got in down the left and I was never confident and he ended up over complicating it and getting too close to the keeper. If it was Barnes in that position I'm pretty sure he just cuts in and scores.

If AG could study Barnes decision making and improve his close control a bit, he’d legitimately be an elite winger

FFS.  People don't do sarcasm and tongue in cheek comments on here, do they.  I even put a saftey smiley

I've already addressed Roderick on this.  Who also totally took it the wrong way.
