NUFC Injuries and Suspensions

There's absolutely no doubt that the load on players is too high, particularly for internationals whose schedule is literally relentless, but I think we skew the figures in a way because at least four of ours are freak incidents. Meanwhile Targett and Manquillo can hardly point to being over-burdened.

Most clubs will suffer their fair share of injuries.

We've suffered a load almost all at once and while it isn't ideal we do have the option (hopefully) of a fresh outlook for the latter part of the season with those players back and refreshed and raring to go.

All this while other club's players are struggling.

I'm just trying to put a positive spin on it all to be fair.

The fixture list has contributed - it’s been non stop - 6 huge CL games and 3 huge league cup games by the middle of Dec is quite frankly unprecedented, on top of a team/club that is way ahead of schedule

Its good to have an experience like this - we will better for it

December is non-stop also. 8 fucking games.

So between 25th November (Chelsea at Home) and Liverpool on 1st Jan (at Anfield) we have 11 games in 43 days, (or a game every 3.9 days!).

Expecting a few more injuries?

We really don't seem to have many obvious candidates coming up through the ranks who could fill in as a striker right now.

We could do with a Sibierski / Kuqi sort of signing just to bolster that area. Ideally not another Chris Wood, but someone who can pull on the shirt and be useful and take the weight off our 2 very fragile strikers.

It's almost a shame that Adam Armstrong has started banging them in with some regularity this season, considering he'd count as basically a free player for Europe as well (HG@club), as he would be a good fit as a squad player.

I do think we will sign an all round forward in at least one of the two windows coming up - just a question of who it will be

Another Adam Armstrong mention ffs

2 Premier League goals last year. I really wish some on here could get the Mike Ashley years hypnotised out of their heads, like. It’s not acceptable for us to sign shit footballers any longer.

I actually agree with you.

This is how progress will be made and ideals about overall squad size and quality will come to the fore with this regime, unlike the last one which would not have been building on any of this.

Fingers crossed it doesn't become a vicious circle. Freak injuries and suspensions have meant we can't rest and rotate, so we're having to rush players returning from injury or play tired legs leading to soft tissue injuries.
