Even if Eddie can’t join us on match days for some time, I’m sure he will be having some input in between games. Anyone has any experience how pneumonia affects you mentally?

I had walking pneumonia which is the kind you don’t have to go to hospital for and I couldn’t even read out a baby book to my then one year old

Out of interest, which other assistant managers have had a high profile in the game? I'd struggle to name many other assistant managers these days.

Peter Taylor with Brian Clough. Terry McDermott with Keegan.

Steve Mclaren with Fergie, but in a different way.

I think it's really case by case, my wife and I both had walking pneumonia 6-7 years ago. I was working for months with it, even trying to go to the gym, I was just really drained and couldn't take a deep breath until I was finally diagnosed. Got some strong antibiotics and it was them that I think laid me out or at least the process of getting better did and I was off work for a week but mostly because I'd asked the doctor to sign me off as I was done with feeling completely drained.

For this I don't think you can use one person's experience as a yardstick because it is so varied in terms of how it can affect you - I've had almost every respiratory illness you can get from swine flu, covid, bronchitis, glandular fever even adult hand foot and mouth, and for me my experience of pneumonia is pretty low on the list for how it affected me. Hand foot and mouth as a 30 something year old was one of the worst experiences of my life.

Tindall getting better at this media lark now, he's giving Eddie a run for his money with his deadpan level-headedness in this post match interview. Almost started to crack a smile at the mention of the cup final, otherwise very stoic.

"We must remain focused and level headed and take each game by game"

"We have to go to Villa and give a level of performance that we've been giving in the past few weeks"

"We have to be consistent and give the right performances to get us into the Champions League"
