He’s let the opposition take a ball down without a challenge is his first mistake.

Are you serious? Look at his positioning relative to the other defenders, any further to his left (to be close enough to prevent Perisic taking the ball) and there’d be a massive gap in the middle. No fault, no blame.

It’s more that once he goes to close him down and the ball is looping up. He decides to stop dead and let Peresic have a touch uncontested.

I’ve seen far worse defending. But it’s lax as fuck. The sort of thing someone like Trent rightly gets pelters for all the while.

The balls in the air for a long time and Perisic has sent him the wrong way with one touch without being under any pressure. Kelly has stood off him there.

I thought Kelly got a bad rap whilst he was here but that’s not good enough.

Wait ... so this guy just started his first game for Juventus, playing in the Champions League, and featured for the full 90 mins contributing to the win, and people are still trying to clown him?

So shameless man

I was at the match. We're still in Turin now. Fly back home this afternoon. Thought he done ok overall. Obviously he should have done better for the goal but his all round performance was a solid 7/10 I'd say.

Their forums sound like its filled with idiots. Apparently that BBC sport rating is the English media raising his profile as he's English.

Sounds like they're very pissed off with their board last few years so most new signings are coming under huge scrutiny.

I think he’ll be fine there, might take some time to settle but he will be solid enough.

Same, he hasn't suddenly become a poor player. He's come into a new team after a handful of appearances since August, he'll probably take some time to settle.

Nothing wrong with pointing out he hasn't defended the goal particularly well though.

Juventus need to accept they’re a medium-sized European club now. They’re only ever going to be good enough for the scrapings from the PL table. They should be honoured Kelly has went there.

Just see. The goal.

It’s lovely work by Perisic, excellent first touch.  Kelly got played but it was superb work. Not great defending but not awful. Perisic is one of the best 2 footed players of the last 20 years.

Dont know why he’s at PSV. Surely it’s time for MLS or Saudi? Must have an eye on the World Cup. Think Modric is as well, closing in on 200 caps that lad.

Think he's just their for sporting reasons. Dutch league is still a decent level (think it's ranked 6th in Europe) and he's going for League titles, domestic cups and crucially still gets to play CL football. I agree that he'll also still have an eye on his International career as well.

Tbh he's still fit as a fiddle. Could go over and play in Saudi or MLS when he's 38 in a couple of years.

Newcastle will net £20million in total for Kelly at the end of the season providing that Juventus qualify for a European competition next term. The moment that place in Europe is secure, Kelly will be Juventus' player for keeps and Newcastle will pocket the entire fee - according to sources in Turin.

Where's that from? It seems unlikely given it's be described as an almost certainty that the deal will be permenant.

Not sure of the above one but this in the Athletic article about him today

Juventus even displaying an interest in Kelly was curious enough, given his struggles this season.

But their willingness to belatedly agree to an initial loan which contains easily attainable targets that will trigger an obligation-to-buy clause worth up to £20million ($24.9m) ensured this was arguably the most random deal of the entire winter window.
