I read it as the 3 + 0.8 being included in the 14.5 + 2.7. If the 6.5 add-on is achieved it would put the total at 23.7 which is well beyond 20m. Why not write "well beyond 25m" if the total was 27.5...? 

 

Either way it's a great deal for us.

Because the reported deal was 20, so they're saying its well beyond the reported 20.

I mean it hasnt worked out for him here but It’s a hell of a reach to suggest Lloyd Kelly single handedly lost us a game where the scoreline was 2 nil to the opposition.

We probably get around £15m. Let's just say his wages were £100k and skip any debate about that. That means the combination of player sales income and wage savings is roughly £10m per year for the next three years.

Done well to shift him. He was way below expectations but its turned out ok in the end.

Its always been good and just to shift dead wood but in these PSR times its become more satisfying than signing a player

Howe has shown plenty of times that he can get the best out of a player and with a run in the team, Kelly might have been decent.

 

But with Burn, Botman, Hall, Tino and even Targett, we're well stocked on the left side of defence. It's good money for a player that we don't really need.

 

He seems sound enough, hope he does well over there.

If we're now in the business of flipping players then this is the blueprint. Sign in the summer, park him for 6 months then move him on for a (relatively) filthy profit. That cash goes straight into this year's accounts and, I assume, mean we're in the clear for PSR this summer. Throw in the Almiron money and it should mean we can strengthen with several players we can actually use next season. 

 

I'd still like us to carry on looking for more players in Kelly's situation and repeat it. It's obviously difficult but it's clearly possible. No axe to grind with him really, he's decent at best but seemed to try and didn't whinge about it, he's also landed up at a huge club too so he's won too. Juve are the only losers in the whole affair tbh
