The Prophet Posted Friday at 16:28 Share Posted Friday at 16:28 I wonder if Burnley's promotion kiboshes any deal until next summer.
David Edgar Posted Friday at 16:31 Share Posted Friday at 16:31 I'm sure Trafford would be delighted at the news that he has to spend a season getting 5 put past him every week at the foot of the table instead of joining us.

splinter Posted Friday at 20:26 Share Posted Friday at 20:26 Player wants to come and I would be confident of a deal being done.
joeyt Posted Friday at 20:30 Share Posted Friday at 20:30 Been saying for a while that Burnley getting promoted will impact this deal, whether they just don't want to sell or raise the price If his contract is until 2027 they don't have to sell this summer. Unless they're financially fucked like Leicester and Sheff Utd when getting promoted, I can't see them selling their best player for anywhere near the £20mil that's been rumoured previously
Weezertron Posted Friday at 20:34 Share Posted Friday at 20:34 The amount we’ve spent on this position lately is fucked.

Maybe there’s an argument to say keeping him increases their chances of staying up, which would be worth a lot more, or maybe he does well and increases his value, so they get close to what they would get now anyway. But it’s still a risk.
NSG Posted Friday at 21:33 Share Posted Friday at 21:33 Would be happy if we got him and sent him back on a season long loan there. Another year of PL experience before he became our number 1 wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world.

Eddie might do his thing where he makes him wait a bit to get into the team, but he’d usurp Pope soon enough.

Appreciate Burnley have been playing out from the back a fair bit however maybe unlike Southampton/Martin they will adapt a more sensible approach. Aye, needs to knock that shit on the head. You’re a keeper in the championship, have some humility lad. You can act the big lad when you’ve come to Newcastle and won the premier league
