More that they are worth more to us than other teams.

Schar could be here for years imo.

And we'll be saying the same in 5 years with the caveat that 'they're good in the dressing room as leaders'

Surprised no one has edited Wes Andersons fantastic Mr. Fox with Boggis, Bunce and Bean with Howe playing Mr.Fox.

That was more relevant in the Ashley era with Rafa playing Mr Fox with Ashley, Charnely and Justin Barnes/Keith Bishop (was struggling for a third as we had zero staff back then lol)

This is the type of forward thinking back-office type setup I was/am hoping to see prove to help us build the long-term success of NUFC.

MITCH GETS BUSY

Paul Mitchell is getting busy with new appointments at the club - and next up to arrive will be a ‘loans and recruitment sports scientist’ and a ‘loans physiotherapist’.

We reported two weeks ago that the club were hiring a psychologist who will provide psychological and behavioural assessments of prospective signings.

And now the new sports scientist will assist that by providing a physical profile of players to ensure it mirrors the physical and playing profile wanted by the club. They will also be tasked with identifying clubs to host Newcastle’s loan players. The aim is to find the best clubs in terms of playing style and player development.

Meanwhile, the new physio will be responsible for looking after players on loan. Jamie Miley, older brother of Lewis, was sent to Newport County last month, only to be forced off with an injury on his debut. He is still sidelined after hernia surgery.

Given the increased emphasis on signing younger players to develop before selling - without possibly touching the first team - the loan pathway is seen as key to enhancing value. Mitchell has very quickly set about beefing up the loans department, currently headed by Shola Ameobi.

What the fuck? Why is this needed? We have Sherla to send our talent to league 2 clubs where they’ll never get played, totally pointless.

Paul man. Need to keep him away from mics for his own good. I was half waiting for him to say he'd never come over a little queer.

His very last answer at tonight's talk was good, I thought - about how player targets are arrived at with the manager, and the considerations that go into it. Actually sounded well considered and natural - like he meant it.

But prior to that he was having a mare - I was starting to feel bad for him. He's been rocked badly by the past few months.

You ever sat in front of 2k 'fans", and many more online, with sky sports "reporters" in the crowd ready to call you out on every point you make 🤷

Honestly, I felt bad for him. It's like you could see his balls were shrivelled up somewhere near his kidneys. I appreciated the self-deprecation but it never stopped

Loads to mention. But basically couldn't avoid going back to the summer and Eddie issues. Literally his first sentence was about how he'd never join a club mid transfer window again. Plus how rotten he was personally as a footballer. Talked about holding hands with Eddie at the boxing in Saudi. Became fixated on needing to drink several pints a day in stack to help boost his own transfer fund, and hoping to get Eddie to join him in the drinking too.

Like, I'm honestly trying to be charitable in thinking he must just be much more of a doer than a talker

Mitchell logged onto N-O looking for the Best MILF thread but accidentally stumbled into the Transfer thread and realised there’s several hundred posters on here that have a greater level of expertise than him and could identify players, value players, negotiate transfer fees, sign players and sell players better than he can

And they can all do it whilst waxing lyrical about xG and pontificating over the tactical benefits of an inverted 10 versus an outverted 6

Fair enough, I didn't get that to be fair.

Plenty of people in high profile roles are shit speaking publicly 🤷
