Paul Mitchell to leave club by mutual consent at end of June (Official)

It's not a Newcastle problem

Nobody outside of Man City, Villa and maybe a couple of other clubs have been spending this window.

Arsenal needed a striker and got no one.

Chelsea have done nothing (maybe their well has dried up)

Even clubs like Man utd couldn't sell players as their is no wiggle room anywhere.

Moving forward either transfer fees drop, wages are lowered or players will just begin to stay at clubs until their contracts run out.

Without the possibility of new funds being allowed into football or the likes of City buying premier league players then this is no magic wand for the majority

Really hope there is some room to make some serious moves in the summer, because it feels like the sides around us are all strengthening and we've weakened. Even the likes of West Ham and Everton have improved their managers and may well come into the upper-mid-table conversation next year if they buy well.

Understand the moves we've made in this window although I do think we could and should have utilised the loan market to give us a fresh face or a bench option. Eddie himself spoke of the important of fresh faces in every window if possible just to stop the squad feeling stale but we/he seems to be reluctant to do loans.

Summer will be interesting but can't help think we'll end up underwhelmed again.

This is what is more likely to happen - certainly in terms of transfer fees.  Which wouldn't be a bad thing for football generally.

After everything we've seen and heard over the last 3 years I defy anyone to say we're just happy to sit and not actively push the club forward. Every single thing that's happened has been to try and drive the whole thing onwards and upwards, they've made mistakes but the intention could never be called into question, on and off the field the club has grown and we're still a long way behind some of the competition, that's down to the restrictions which are out of our control

If we could spend money then we would always choose to do so. That fact no-one has come in strongly suggests that it's because we can't not because we can't be arsed. The board will be just as frustrated that we can't spend and invest but I can almost guarantee it's not because the ambition is lacking, it's the limits that have been imposed on us. They need to be cut an awful lot of slack tbh

Whilst I agree I do feel what happened in June has spooked us making us very risk adverse. In order to keep our best players we need CL football. By not adding to a squad which looks like it needs additions we are gambling.  Personally I wish we'd just taken a bit of a risk and brought in a coupleof players. Even a loan or two just to freshen things up.

Kluivert would be my top target this summer...the lad has it all

Would have been labelled a 'shit' signing of other clubs castoffs if we signed him when Bournemouth did.

Would have been the same if we had signed Cunha from Atletico when Wolves did.

They would have both been judged by their relatively ordinary performances at their previous clubs, and deemed to be 'not good enough'.

We need to do a better job of recognising players like these with untapped potential, who could better thrive in the style of play in the Premier League.

I guess that’s one way for the Saudis to circumvent the rules and inject cash into Newcastle Utd.

The Chronicle reckons Mitchell has £80milliom to spend in the summer.

That’s not going to get us much.

Most of that will go on a RW, you’d have thought. And we desperately need cover elsewhere as well, especially if we get into Europe.

It would be really funny here if we end up spend none / close to minimum again

There are posters on here with a lot more understanding of PSR and the clubs financials than the Ronnie gill, I wouldn’t believe a word of what they say.

Plus things like league position and European qualification will have a huge impact on the financials

I'm sure they can sell a few of their car parking spots at their training ground to themselves for 50m, make the players pay a million a week in parking fees which the club will re-imburse and write off as part of wages

What’s with the colour coding with user names?

It’s to do with the most recent Traitors game. Nothing to do with a snidey non-player like yourself.

It’s not a choice of the club how much they can spend

The Ronnie Gill literally can’t possibly know that given we don’t know if we’ll be in Europe (and in which tournament if we are)
