More importantly, if we get him over the line, at least there's some hope of momentum after the past few weeks of depressing news on the signings front. In all seriousness, id have absolutely no issues with this signing. Had we signed him in the first week of July, id have been quite complimentary of the club sticking to their guns and getting the player they want. However, very little the club do now is going to look anything other than a panic or reactionary and I think thats a fair criticism. Had we signed Elanga, Ramsdale, Thiaw and Wissa a month ago, the debacle around Isak and another striker wouldnt have seemed anywhere near as cataclysmic but because weve focused on one area of the pitch (badly), the optics of this transfer window will always be a negative one.
