Will Osula: Goal vs Man United nominated for PL Goal of the Season

Recommended Posts

The club value him at  round 60 milliion according to Mark Douglas. Who would be a good striker signing in the offseason? Goncalo Ramos, Darwin Nunez, Nicolas Jackson, Liam Delap?

His first goal was the moment he looked like a PL striker. Can't remember a calm one on one like that from him before. Hopefully he's turned the page now.

It went in and it was on his weaker foot. So I’m being overly critical. But it wasn’t a great finish IMO. Was right at the keeper and I think it goes through/under his legs as he is diving. Bit of luck involved there.

I think he’ll always be erratic as fuck with his finishing. But his movement and when to go all out like a dog going after a ball and when to make the right run etc. Has come on loads.

I also like that he plays off both feet and has that unpredictability about him. Imagine trying to defend against all those limbs hurtling towards you at 20MPH

Crazy to write this (as I didnt rate Osula at all), but do we really want either of them instead?

Any new signing is a risk, as Eddie put it yesterday.

Osula is settled in Newcastle, knows our systems/tactics and is starting to show end product.

It’s crazy to say this now but I would rather stick with him than try a Nunez or Ramos who aren’t guaranteed successes.

Ramos, Jackson and Delap all under 25. Nunez 26.

The first two feel like they’ve been around forever and Nunez in his twilight years. [emoji38]

I fancy Ramos, but not the price we’d have to pay. Can see him at Chelsea.

Delap would be fine, but is he even an upgrade on Osula at this point?

Sell Wissa to Saudi. Bring in Nunez on a free. Happy to go with Osula, Wolt & Nunez next season and invest heavily in gk, defenders and def mid who can protect them.

Would be up for this too, exciting if nothing else.

I’m happy with our striking options being him, Woltemade and a wissa replacement next season.

I wonder if we’ll see Elanga in a central forward role too like we saw with Gordon.

Well, that would be something to see all right. I suppose it's further to miss-control the ball out of play.

Now now, the odd heavy touch might go past the keeper and into the goal aswell, if he can get that far in the first place

Would love to swap out Wissa for Nunez - him on a free is a no brainer imo. He'd suit Eddie's style

Did a good one against Bournemouth too

There’s definitely a player in him but it’s mad how he goes from

utter dog turd to the best forward in the league within minutes!

Keep reading he is/was a poor finisher but he typically scores or hits the target and has it saved.

He's up there in conversion rate this season and is far outperforming his expected goals.

Aside from that I don't even recall any glaring misses where he's skied it over like Wissa has been doing this season, or just missed the target completely and made a complete mess of a chance.

I've definitely seen worse suggestions

No idea what the club does, and I won't blame them either way. New contract or 40-45m sale. A weirdly luxurious position for us. The problem is that he's the only CF asset at a time when we need to start trading. The thing with Osula is that he'll get at least one chance per game. He's a handful who always makes something happen.

Why would you sell him? He looks like your best striker.

Oh, you're clearly not yet familiar with the concept of selling your better players to stay within the rules

Eddie's setup is so well suited to a fast striker that's hard working and makes good runs that the Nunez move is very very intriguing.

Think I also like Nunez even more with a second striker playing off of him that can also create for him and add another finisher alongside.

His form has certainly been an unexpected bonus, really hope it doesn’t stop us going out and bringing in another striker though. Still feel a pool of Wissa, Wolt and Osula is nowhere near good enough for where we want to be.

It's not, but it's Wissa that needs to be upgraded.
