If he did have a poor season that would be even more worrying, given how set we've been on him.

Good players have poor seasons in poor teams all the time though

Imagine if he got injured now

And what if we had signed him, then out with an ACL?

I don't get the sour grapes, aside the way Parish mouthed off, they were completely within their rights to keep him, and he hardly seemed to push for a move either.

Time will tell if that was a good decision for palace or him.

Personally, I am glad we did not sign him for that money.

He’ll go to Liverpool to replace VVD but for probably about £40m as he’ll only have one year left on his deal.

Hopefully Palace go down along with their banners about us - Parish is an utter mouthy bellend!

Parrish has stood firm for his club but he’s still a wanker and he’s been at the forefront of an anti nufc agenda in the league. Their fans seem to have taken a disliking (often sanctimonious on the Saudi theme) and to be honest I don’t really like them. I hope we fucking smash them at St James.

Hopefully Palace are mid-table in January and we'll get him for £50m.

He’ll have far better suitors then mind - nailed on Liverpool.

This boat has well and truly sailed!

Worst part about Palace is they’ve hit their glass ceiling with no ambition to be better than mid table/staying in the premier league.

I understand their owners be like that so they protect their income.

But I don’t understand how their fans can just accept permanent mediocrity.

Only way I can see him coming, is if there's some agreement established now that we will come back with similar offer £60m+£5m in January and it's accepted then. Palace got their CBs, can spend time recruiting to sign another and we get him.

But at that point, probably would want to trust our scouting and DoF to say, no, and back themselves to find value elsewhere which allows other positions to be strengthened,

Not blaming Parish or Palace one bit for this. We're just fucking idiots.

Not getting the Tosin deal knocked all our plans sideways and then they went all in on Guehi and still didn’t get that one done. It kind of puts to pay that Howe was hell bent on one player though.

It's definitely the fault of Eales and Mitchell no doubt about it, point still stands that Parish would rather still sell to one of his big 6 mates for a lesser fee.

313 pages for a player who's never been ours, and still at the top of the forum after the window has closed. Yes people complain at every single post in the Minteh thread because we're not supposed to feel any affiliation to a player who's never kicked a ball for us

 Mind that chip on your shoulder!

At least with this one the transfer window closed a matter of hours ago and there was the explicit intention of actually playing Guehi.

This thread will fade away until January as well.

"I don't think the window worked out exactly the same format that we thought it would," Parish said. "Maybe we thought at the beginning it'd be more likely that Marc Guehi went and we kept Joachim Andersen.

"We accepted that bid [for Andersen] which then made it very difficult really to sell both of our starting centre-backs in one window.

"That's not to say it wasn't still an outside possibility that we got to the right number but then Chadi Riad got injured. That doesn't look quite as bad as it seems but it still left us very light and really made it impossible for us to consider at that point.”

"We're proud of the fact that Michael Olise's gone to Bayern Munich. “We want to be selling to the top clubs, or top clubs like Newcastle who've got great aspirations and have recently been in the Champions League.

"So we have to manage all of those things. We won't get really great young talent to come to us if they think they're going to be stuck.

"We want to be playing in the Champions League. The reality is we don't right now. That's what players want to achieve in their career and we respect that and we respect the fact that sometimes we're going to be a pathway to that."
