Obviously, I mean I presume you’re currently managing a team in one of Europe's top 5 leagues, that’s won a trophy this season and is currently sat in third. Otherwise it'd take a brass neck of epic proportions to make this kind of statement

Howe is a fantastic coach. But he isn't a sporting director. Everyone must do his own job.

He is a 30m defender. Howe offered 70m: crazy. And Palace refused: double crazy. You were lucky. And this should teach you that Howe must stay away from the recruitment.

I'd be far more worried about our recruitment policy if we didn't go for him this summer. If we were prepared to spend £55-60m, you'd surely go for the same player at £35-40m.

Also with the added bonus now that if he doesn't turn out to be the player the club believed, you'd get most of your money back at least if we sold.

Parrish also doesn’t hold the cards now really, they'll Have to sell with one  year left.

Pretty sure I saw reports a little while back with Parrish running his mouth about how they wouldn't be selling him for cheap this summer or some nonsense.

Not sure I want us trying to negotiate or deal with that prat again all summer.

Im not concerned about this one at all. I reckon we learnt a lot last summer and we've got nothing to worry about on the recruitment front.

Yeah we should just sit back and enjoy it this Summer. Exciting. Hopefully attracting players for UCL.

Has a player ever had more impact for a club after not joining than if he had joined?

Like what more could we have done with him than win a cup and be currently 3rd? Whilst he’s helped us to 2 goals and 4 points that could get us UCL.

Win the cup still, be 3rd or even 2nd and still be in FA Cup?

He’d be excellent for us, there was a moment in first half he carried the ball out of defence and set up an attack and you could see he’d be perfect in our team.

Hope we go back in for him, great character too.

Name a bad “Howe” signing.

Stick to FIFA manager mode, pal.

Well Done Agent Guehi.

His own goal at St James’ Park and in the reverse fixture at Selhurst Park saw 24-year-old become only the second player in Premier League history to concede an own goal both home and away against the same opponent in a single season.

I honestly think he's bang average.

A lot of "bang average" players have become colossal for us..

I've learnt to not even question Howe when it comes to players. Rafa always said a hit rate of around 50% on transfers means you're genuinely outperforming the market. Howe is closer to 90%...

He's not worth £60-70M by a long shot, but if Howe wants him for cheaper than that and he's available at what we value a good price - he will be here.

Well then by that logic it wasn't Howe doing the negotiating last summer was it?

So is Mitchell supposed to not work in conjunction with Howe now, according to the font of knowledge that is yourself?

Didn't Parish say we offered nowhere near £70 million

Howe also said it obviously in his own guarded way in a press conference. Along the lines of figures nowhere near those being reported.

Was probably around the £50m mark with £5m add ons. Always dangerous to target a player post a big tournament. No blame attached as that was our target and it played out the way it did with Parish & Sky. Felt we reached our limit very early on in that window. The rest was just posturing from Palace.
