Irrelevant if we can't agree terms with the player. If we are offering £100k a week to join us now. But then if he waits a year he can start for his preferred choice, get a large signing on fee as a free transfer and possibly also get £200k a week or whatever.

Us agreeing a few with Palace does nothing really other than give him a decision to make. But the power is still all with Guehi.

Do you think Liverpool would say to him "wait a year so we can get you on a free" ? A lot changes, the here and now would make a lot of difference.

Liverpool will just come in and match our bid if it comes to a push. Either way I think he's probably ending up there if they want him.

As much as it pains me to say it, I couldn't blame him if he pies us off to stay at Palace another season and the joins Liverpool on a free next year.

No way is he going to waive a fat signing on fee and a wage that would blow ours out the water.

Let's see if they do. At least force them into it if we are interested (Im not fussed on him personally).

Liverpool would definitely gazump us even if he was open to the move.

Should use him as a smokescreen & try to sign Van Hecke without any cartel involving themselves.

Chelsea have an agreement in place with Brighton to get first dibs on any players.

Agree, Van Hecke would be a great signing.

Plus, the whole rainbow armband jesus schtick he pulled wasn't great either. Dunno if that was just my misunderstanding.

we should put in a bid of 25m for him. TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT

OH you want to leave it? fine, we'll offer you 28m. TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT

OH you want to leave it? no problem, how about 30m. TAKE IT OR... aw someone else has signed him no worries

At this stage, can't hurt to hoy a bid in for him, see what happens. Palace accept/reject, or it lures out the scousers.

Don't think they can afford the Guehi fee and the uplift still needed for any Isak deal this summer.

40m is worth paying for him. In fact, whatever we were willing to pay last year is worth paying for him (though Palace will obviously accept less)

It's not a case of "you'll get him for free in a year" because we won't. So it's no different him having 3 years left on his contract.

Palace aren't daft, they can't afford to lose him for nothing in 12 months time. They're likely to take a hit if they have to drop into the Conference League vs. Europa League and even if you take out Chelsea's sell-on it's still a healthy profit for them and that's a big part of their model.

Even in the unlikely even Palace accept, surely Guehi is going to reject any move until Liverpool step in. This is a waste of time.

Surely that would be ironed out with his agent beforehand?
