You get the feeling that the only criteria Howe looks for is “can he run quickly?”. The rest doesn’t seem that important.

Barely shows that either

Christ, he makes it difficult to get behind him. Every time there's a glimpse of him showing a bit of quality it's followed by some of the most abject shit you've ever seen. Amazingly bad today.

Still annoyed and staggered at how fucking bad he was today.

He’s been bad 90% of the season - he has no technical qualities or a footballing brain - he’s a nothing player - this won’t change in his time at the club

He has, but that was as bad as I’ve seen.

Shocked that we went for him, especially for the money!

A very strange signing if we wanted to become more possession based.

I think a large number of us on here thought exactly this when we were linked with him and wrote as much at the time. I, like many others, thought he had attributes (pace, ability to strike and cross with both feet) that mitigated some of the failure in the technical quality to make him a useful player for us. This has sadly proved completely false and he’s been absolutely appalling for most of his time on the pitch for us. He doesn’t even just mess up the difficult stuff. He can’t do a five yard pass correctly, he can’t make simple runs effectively. He can’t cross the ball with control. I don’t know what’s happened to his crossing as I saw him cross well for Forest.

Fundamentally, I think he’s a footballer who cannot play against defenders who are near him or behind him. He can only play in space and if he has time in space he has the capacity to control a football passably. He has barely had that with us and he is unlikely to get it with us as we don’t play on the counter attack so we will continue to see him play horrifically every single time he’s up against a team who sit deep or have an organised shape

Honestly think he’s among the worst players I’ve ever seen for us, including all the shit eras (I’m 36 for reference)

im not sure he’d make it into our winless blue team this morning

Des Hamilton from back in the day was worse, so was Riverie, but he’s up there

He also hasn’t got the mentality to play for a bigger club. He was a coward out there today.

Crazy to think he was Eddie's number 1 target.   What did he see?

If he thought he could improve on Elanga at Forest last season then I do think that would have been a hell of a player.

He'll have seen him running Burn a few times and been conned into thinking he could do that weekly.

The transfer is worthy of criticism but he wasn't his 1st target like, he were after quite a few players before him.

On the RW position? We scouted and bid for him earlier. Nothing to suggest he was not close to the top of the list.

Yeah. Gordon was our original RW choice, who then ended up playing LW, we've bid for Olise, were in for Mbeumo, owned and were forced to sell Minteh. We also bid for Maddison and were heavily linked with Szoboszlai for that inverted RW playmaker role.

Like I say, the transfer on its own is worth scrutinising but he wasn't Howe’s first choice by any means.

Yes, if we go back all these years then you are correct. Going into last summer transfer window he was close to the top of the list.
