I, like many others, thought he had attributes (pace, ability to strike and cross with both feet) that mitigated some of the failure in the technical quality to make him a useful player for us. This has sadly proved completely false and he’s been absolutely appalling for most of his time on the pitch for us. He doesn’t even just mess up the difficult stuff. He can’t do a five yard pass correctly, he can’t make simple runs effectively. He can’t cross the ball with control. I don’t know what’s happened to his crossing as I saw him cross well for Forest. Fundamentally, I think he’s a footballer who cannot play against defenders who are near him or behind him. He can only play in space and if he has time in space he has the capacity to control a football passably. Gordon was our original RW choice, who then ended up playing LW, we've bid for Olise, were in for Mbeumo, owned and were forced to sell Minteh. We also bid for Maddison and were heavily linked with Szoboszlai for that inverted RW playmaker role.
